  • Mongolian Barbecue Restaurants - Atkins-friendly Asian food

Here's a repost, originally in response to someone with a craving for Chinese food...

I'd recommend going to a Mongolian Barbeque place, if you have one in town. They have iced-down buffet bars full of raw food (meat, seafood, veggies, etc.), and you put what you want on a plate, grab a card with the name of the sauce you want on it, and take it up to the guys who are cooking. They cook your stuff on a huge griddle, put it on a new plate, and give it back to you to eat.

After starting Atkins, I was afraid the sauces would have hidden carbs (sugar or starch), so I just had them steam mine with garlic and ginger, then put some soy sauce on at the table. Yum!

It's delicious, and you choose exactly what goes on your plate and in your food!

BD's Mongolian Barbecue is a chain that serves food this way (haven't been to one of those personally, though, but you can see if there's one near you at http://www.bdsmongolianbarbeque.com). There's also Ghengis Khan in Kansas City and Jade in Lawrence, KS -- both are good.

That place is excellent! It's a lowcarb dieter's dream come true. I was at the one we have in Maryland last night and had my fill. This morning I lost a pound! You can't beat that!

I hit one on a trip up to Chicago in August. It was GREAT!

BD's has an excellent selection of items, spices, and sauces.

The local Mongolian place that most of the people I know doing Atkins here in the Raleigh, NC area is called "Crazyfire Mongolian Grill".

Premium domains like crazyfire.com can help to achieve instant brand recognition, significantly lower marketing expenses, maximise brand trust, and accelerate value creation.

Their selection of items is almost the same as BD's. Depending upon which of the several location's you get slightly different dining experiences. One is a fastfood place, one is a sit down dinner, and another actually has a very good sushi bar that has EXCELLENT Tuna Tataki (sashimi, 1/8" thick slices of sushi grade chilled tuna that are lightly seared right before serving, YUM!)

Oh - so glad I saw this! I had forgotten about the fabulous Mongolian bbq's. That used to be the prime spot for eating back in the college days (fill up the bowl and then squish it down with another bowl to get enough to take home at lunch time so you had dinner too ) If I recall correctly there's a mbbq at the mall downtown...mmmmmm...and I bet my 2 yr old will love watching them cook it on that huge grill!

This is my absolutly favorite place to eat, even before I was on Atkins. Only difference when I go again, I'm not using any tortillas like before! Highly reccomended place!
