I caught some grief from the manager on duty when I ordered 2 double cheeseburgers minus the bun. He didn't understand how to make that...said he'd have to explain to the cook. I said "tell him to do everything he does to a double cheeseburger normally, then when it's time to throw it on the bun...don't!" I got my bun-less treats in 4-piece Chicken McNugget Happy Meal boxes. :laughing

Had to work this weekend, had mixed results at McD's.
Saturday, I went through the drivethough and told them I was lo-carbing it, and I just wanted scrambled eggs and bacon. The lady working the drivethrough said "No problem, come on around", and I got a pretty ggod slug of eggs and 3 strips of bacon for $1.16! This was put onto one of there "Big Breakfast" trays.
Sunday, different crew working evidently, just went through and asked for bacon and eggs. Lady questioned: "You want a side order of bacon and a side order of eggs?" Yup! Went through, same price, $1.16, but I had 2 cardboard containers like the small McNuggets would come in, I guess. Real small pile of eggs, about 1 eggs worth if that, and 1 piece of bacon broken into 3 pieces. The receipt even said "3 strips bacon", I DON'T think those were strips, pal! So, if it were like "Saturday" every day, it'd be a good deal. The lady on Saturday said they have alot of people doing the bacon and eggs-only routine these days.
I hate to sit there and look at the order before I go and be a pain in someones, uh, neck, but it would be nice if you know what you're going to get, this ain't Forrest Gump box of chocolates!

The breakfast platter is can bacon sausage 2 eggs cheese a strip of bacon and 2 slices of tomatoes. The beef one is a quarter patty with cheese 2 tom slices pickles lettuce onions and a slice of bacon and the chicken one is basically the same except you get chicken instead of beef

I experienced the same thing a couple of months ago. I went to my local burger bar, and asked for a half pound cheese burger with out the roll.
And the kid behind the counter looked at me, thought and then said "what you dont want a sesame" "yes thats right" i said. " but how are you going to eat it" was his reply.
He said it with such a shock and surprised look on his face. It was pathetic........sigpic260/215/180 Male - 36 y/o
It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

My Burger King experience
Last night I stopped at a local Burger King to grab a burger before my evening class. I usually order a double whopper with cheese, lettuce and mayo and then toss the bun. I figured that since they are advertising the no bun whoppers I would order it minus the bun. I orderd my usual (minus the bun this time) and after a long pause from the clearly confused employee, she asked if I just wanted the sandwich. Hmm.... well yeah! That is what I want.
Well I get to school and start to consume my burger and notice that it has tomatoes and onions on it besides my usual condiments. I am not a big fan of tomatoes and onions so off they go. I am guessing the this BK must have some kind of "low carb whopper meal" and I got the pre-arranged burger. I did not see and ads for this meal so if they such a meal it must be stealth.
At this BK it is easier to just get the burger as usual and toss the bun. Ordering one without a bun just seems to get these people all confused.

Hi everyone, this is my first time to post on the Atkins Bulletin Boards.
I wanted to say something to those of you who order with the buns and then toss the bun...I used to do that too, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized
that if I keep doing that, it'll just take longer for the resturants to realize that people WANT low-carb options! If we order with no bun, expect the confused looks for a while
, but also know that we're spreading the word and ultimately will make it easier for all of us to eat out more! The more people that order low-carb, the more used to it the servers will get and the word will get out and low-carb options will show up on the menu's as we're seeing with Burger King, Hardees, Subway, etc. You've seen it happening...let's support the effort by ordering NO BUN.
My two cents...
Phyllis
Second try at low-carbing :-(

Mc Donalds has become a staple for me. Where I live (Birmingham, AL) all 3 of the Mc Donalds near my work advertise two different Protein Meals (all in all 4 choices) and have so for about 7 or 8 months now. One is either 1 or 2 cheeseburger patties PLAIN with a side salad and an unsweet tea and the other is 1 or 2 chicken breast with a side salad and unsweet tea. They even have numbers like the rest of the value meals. If I've already had mu veggies for the day I order 1 (or 2 if Im really hungry) double cheese burgers off the dollar menu, plain, no bun.
As for Burger King, I havent gotten a chance to try them yet. I wasn't THAT hungry the other day but thought I would just give it a try. I asked the girl at the counter if she could do a Whopper Jr. low-carb instead of a regualr Whopper. SHE TOLD ME NO!!! I'm not one for confrontation so I was like "Nevermind then, and just walked out." I found that too funny... I'm going to try back in a few days and see if I get the same response.Started Jan 1st, 2004

Eh, it may just be that their computer system doesn't support it. You could always just order the whopper junior and toss the bun, you don't save any money on the low-carb versions.Originally posted by AmandleighMc Donalds has become a staple for me.
