  • Cracker Barrell

    Hiya,

On a trip this weekend I stopped with some others to have lunch on the road at a Cracker Barrell. I am pleased to report that it is fairly easy to set up an Atkins friendly meal at one of these locations. Simply choose any of the 'Country Dinner Plates' where you choose and appropriate meat, and then have your pick of two side items, many vegetables are availible.

I personally enjoyed cajun grilled catfish with turnip greens and cabbage, but you can set it up lots of different ways as well.

our steakburger, which doesnt even come with a bun, never has. its just a plain burger and then you can add cheese if you'd like. we have excellent grilled chicken tender salads. we have ribeye, we have bacon cheeseburgers, grilled spicy catfish.

cabbage, turnip greens, greenbeans(aloud?) unsweet tea, diet beverages.

I was very pleased with the Cracker Barrel low carb menu. The grilled catfish was tasty and of very good quality, and the vegetable side dishes were also quite nice. Thumbs up!

                Re: Cracker Barrell

Hello All! Yesterday was my first time eating at Cracker Barrell ever! I just knew the only thing I was going to be able to have was a nice grilled chicken salad. NOT!!!

To much of my suprise Cracker Barrell had over 10 entree dinners for low-carbers. I got the Smothered Grilled Chicken (grilled chicken topped with two strips of bacon and american and cheddar cheese), I had a choice of three sides so I got the tossed salad, green beans and ordered fried apples and gave to my son. You all this was awesome!

I always wondered about the Cracker Barrell...now I know and I encourage everyone to try it!

                    Re: Cracker Barrell

I knew I had to try there! They just built one near my place, but it's always packed...like all the other stupid chain restaurants in my area. They just put in a Texas RoadHouse and it's parking lot is packed at all hours of the day...unbelieveable! I've been to Cracker Barrel before, but not since I started Atkins. I'll have to try it again!

I haven't been to cracker barrel in years. I will have to try them sometime. I love their food and knowing that they are Atkins friendly puts it higher up on my list of places to eat. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh I love Cracker Barrel!!! I only get to go when I visit my parents, We do not have one here. It is yummy though!!!

My son thinks it is a big deal to play checkers at the big tables..cute!!

I must say we always go for breakfast, very rarely later in the day. Breakfast is always easy to make low carb, but he hashbrown casserole, OUCH, that is going to be hard to pass up:9

The spicy grilled catfish is the best, I always get it with the greenbeans and a side salad.
