  • The Carl Jr. low carb burger is low on carbs but...

It has 4g of sugar!!! Is this bad or is it okay for us Atkineers?

How the heck can a burger have sugar in it?? Does it have catsup on it? If so, there's your sugar, I would bet.

If you are still in the induction phase, yes, you can eat it, but have them leave the catsup off. Too much sugar in catsup.

I went to the Hardee's (Carl's Jr.) website, and according to their nutritional information, there are 5 grams of carbs total and 2 grams of fiber with 4 grams of sugar -- I'm assuming that is as the burger is prepared with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard & ketchup. If so, then that would yeild only 3 digestible carbs.

If you order it without ketchup (4 carbs per tablespoon) What do you count?? -1 carbs?? Um... no. So do you count the 5 or 3?? I usually try to err on the side of overcounting, but I thought I'd put it out there and see what everyone else thought.

Is it safe to eat it? So your saying out of the 5g of carbs 4g is from ketchup???

It is perfectly safe to eat, just order it without ketchup, as that is the main source from the carbs. The others simply come from the vegetables involved, so if you are on induction, make sure you count them in your daily totals (I've eyeballed it at about 1 cup worth of veggies, maybe a little less).

If you put it all into fitday, it comes up to about 2 net carbs (the veggies are the only thing that add carbs once you get rid of the ketchup, onions and tomato both have a bit of fibre, so 2 net carbs overall leftover).

I get the Low-Carb burger without Ketchup and Onions. Not sure what it comes out to, I just tell myself it's 3 carbs, though.

Yep I order it without ketchup. I think the 2 net carbs is accurate without the ketchup. Now if someone orders the combo they offer and eats the FF then all bets are off. LOL Everytime I go to Hardees and get the low carb thick burger, I joke with them about the fact that they offer it as a combo with FF.

                        Yep it's the ketchup

I had one the other day. It was the "$6 Restaurant Burger", but without the bun and it's only $3.95. They wrap it nicely in lettuce leaves and a paper wrapper. It does come with ketchup so you have to ask that they leave that off. Here's the nutrition info:

It has a half pound of beef! That's huge! I couldn't finish mine.
