The taco salad without the shell is supposedly 16 net carbs. But they could still be hiding carbs. It's best to make your own at home if you can. Or if out, visit one of the more low carb friendly fast food places...

True, life is too short for crappy mexican Make your own taco salad (sans shell) with decent beef, fresh veggies, and be much more satisfied.

Taco Bell's meat mix has starch and sugar in it. So even if you have the taco salad without the shell, without the vegetables, without the salsa, without the cheese, and without the sauces, the meat alone has a fair amount of carbs in it.

There is literally nothing at Taco Bell that is acceptable for low carb.

The Taco Bell website's nutritional information indicates that each beef taco without the taco shell has only 1 net carb while a beef burrito supreme without the burrito and beans has 5 net carbs. Even if the beef seasoing has some sugar, I wonder how bad can a taco really be with just 1 carb?

Wow...taco bell is probably the hardest thing i had to kick while being on atkins. I used to live on the grilled hot stuft burrito and their tacos...i seriously got them around every other day. Brings back memories...and a little tear to my eye, lol. :yes

Mexican is thankfully fairly easy to reproduce well once out of induction.

The majority of the low-carb tortillas on the market are actually pretty good, and once you get used to making your own enchiladas and burritos from scratch using all high quality ingredients, you will never crave Taco Bell again, gauranteed.

You would think that it would be easy (maybe not cheap) to serve low carb items at Taco Bell. I never trusted their ground meat, but maybe a soft low carb taco/burrito with grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc.

I make my own at home which are just as good.

I'm shocked that there is sugar in the meat.... gosh.

Like some polish sausages have sugar and they are 7g!!! Outch!

When I *HAVE* to eat at Taco Bell (it's conveniently close), I order the taco salad, substitute steak for the taco meat, and ask for no beans. I cant imagine that being over 5 carbs. Any opposing opinions?

(Ps... of course I skip the tortilla shell!)

I think you're probably right. But like someone else said Taco bell is about the hardest of all the fast food places to try to take what they have and make it low carb.
