I found that you can order egg foo young ... no sauce and ask them if you can substitute bean sprouts for onions ( you wont miss the onions )

I am so glad that I found this. However, is this allowed on while in the induction phase?

      Thanks!

I'm glad you asked this! We are probably going to a chinese buffet on Sunday for Fathers day!!! I know they have a salad bar and fresh shrimp.... I'm worried about the dishes. I'm on induction, finishing day 6 and I absolutely do not want to blow this!!!!!

I would imagine any food as long as it isn't breaded or it doesn't contain sauce w/sugar.

I have ordered just about anything and asked for it without the sauce.

              Mustard has become my bestfriend.

How about Broccoli Beef? The sauce on this dish is usually just soy sauce...

                  Chinese

I ate at Ryans the other day... I thought that I would have a wide choice of meats, but the only beef I could find was in a Chinese Brocolli dish... I did my best to wipe the sauce off as I picked them out of the serving tray with tongs... **S** What about the sauce..??? Are there many carbs in it..??? I didn't want to take a chance... **S**

I'm sitting here at lunch... I'm eating my little meat and cheese stacks... swiss, ham, salami.... very good indeed!

but man... I'd kill for some Beef Chow mein mixed with some fried rice!

My husband is Cajun (etoufee, gumbo, etc...) and I used to eats tons of rice... I know I can have brown rice (?) later on, but I get off Induction tomorrow and would like to find a rice alternative that would be good for these dishes... Anyone know of a rice-like-something that people on or just off Induction could use..????

Aimee......I used grated cauliflower with beef stir fry and with pot roast. Just shred up raw cauliflower with a cheese grater and then boil for about 5 minutes. The consistency was about the same as rice but the taste was cauliflower (which I love)...all in all I was satisfied. HTHS

Hey guess what? I found a good way to wipe off the excess sauces which you suspect containing sugar..Ask for a bowl and pour in hot Chinese tea..then dip your food in, eg. pieces of meat and drain off the liquid b4 you eat..it tastes less salty too LOL
                          God Bless You!!!

This is a major toughie for a lot of us...

I love chinese food and had the hardest time trying to figure out what I could eat. After eating at the Chinese Buffet my family and I used to frequent I felt queasy and TOTALLY unsatisfied. There is another place where they have a Mongolian BBQ that is perfect for me. I can live without Chinese I guess. They have Egg Foo Young but it is pre-made and has peas and carrots etc. Why does everyone keep picking on onions by the way???

                              chinese

the problem with many chinese dishes is the cornstarch or flour used to thicken many of the sauces -
