Help. I love Chinese food. I have triplet girls and every Monday either my husband or myself take one of them out to eat. When it is my turn with Bethany, she loves Chinese food. Is there anything I can order that would be more on the safe side (OWL)? She and I both love chicken and snow peas.

I notice that Panda Express's carb count for Beef Broccoli is fairly low...except that I don't like it that much. Besides, that's fast food, and I am looking for a restaurant.

    Also...
I have an end of the year (I'm a teacher) luncheon next Thursday. They have done the ordering already. Any advice for that day? I am not going to be able to make special requests.

If you go to a chinese restaurant see if you can request any basic stir-fry type dish be made withthout sugar or corn-starch, that would make most safe.

I'm not sure if you have a Walmart near you, but there are low carb Chinese and Thai frozen dinners in the freezer section. I forget the brand name, but they come in a Chinese take-out box wrapped in plastic. I tried the ginger chicken and veggies (10 carbs) and it was pretty good!

My local Chinese Restaurant serves Steamed Chicken and low cal veggies with a soy sauce base on the side. It's low carb too.

I was interested to see this because I am having Chinese food tonight. The restaurant we are ordering from has a "diet" menu, where you can get steamed broccoli, steamed veggies, steamed veggies with chicken, steamed veggies with beef, and steamed veggies with shrimp. Also, egg drop soup at most Chinese restaurants should be fine.

Unfortunately, egg rolls and fried rice would not be...

But then again, steamed veggies and chicken hardly sounds like good eating... A lot of the flavor in chinese dishes comes from the ingredients hitting the very hot oil in the Wok and blending a bit during the stirring process.

My plan is to add some sauce when it gets to my home. It would be better, since I am not scared of a little fat, if I could have them stirfry it in the oil and such, but since my dad is the one picking it up, I decided to keep it easy for him. I know for a fact that this is just plain veggies and plain meat.

I am mostly looking forward to the egg drop soup...LOVE IT!

                soups

My husband orders hot and sour soup. and I like the egg drop soup. I even ate some egg rolls during my last round of atkins. However, this is my final and last round of atkins.....I'm in it for the long haul.....so my choices would be soup only most likely. Kids eat the entree sweet and sour chicken or sesame chicken and the rice.

OH I remember-----it was chicken chow mein that was so good...........how is that for you? I wasn't even sure---but it just had chicken and cabbage....the sauce would be the worry, I guess.

                    Hi

I just wanted to comment on the fact that you have triplet girls.
That is so cool! And the fact that you take out one girl out to eat,
at a time, is a great idea to make them feel special and an individual.
I am a twin girl myself and I know even I wouldve loved that when I was a youngen.
You should post a picture of them on here if you have one.
I think triplets are great! Alot of work im sure, but Great at the same time! :wave

We have a WONDERFUL Chinese restaurant that just came to town near us. We've been there several times. It's a Chinese buffet, but they also have an open grill. You can choose your own veggies and meats, give it to the grill cook and he cooks it up for you with your sauce of choice. We went last night and I picked green peppers, onions, bean sprouts, brocolli, chicken, beef, chinese cabbage and green beans in a garlic sauce. I was able to monitor the amount of veggies, had no rice or noodles, and added in lots of meat! It was wonderful! I do drink lots of extra water before and after, because I worry about any hidden MSG and the high sodium of soy sauce - but now that we eat there once a week and I continue to lose pounds, I feel like it's OK and can eat it without fear or guilt! LOL

Chinese is one of the easiest things to eat out--most of it is o.k. if you just have them leave the sauce off (of course no rice) I get whatever I like Happy Family or Hawaii Five-O are my fav's w/o the sauce and then I add soy and hot mustard to it and it it delish.

Triplets are cool. My brother and his wife have triplets--2 boys, 1 girl they are getting ready to turn 15 yrs old!

does anyone have any thoughts about hot & sour soup? i think it's really hard to find nutritional info about chinese restaurants in general, so i'm in the dark a little. I'm afraid there's a lot of sugar in it.

Hot and Sour Soup shouldn't have much or any sugar, but it is thickened with corn starch.
