  • Quizno's

CarbWire today has an article about Quizno's having several new carb-conscious salads. One of them is a chicken ranch thingy that they say has 0 carbs.

Now, please correct me if my thinkin' is stinkin' BUT, how can you have a salad with barbecued chicken, cherry tomatoes and ranch dressing that has ZERO carbs?

I e-mailed Larry at CarbWire and asked if it was a CarbWire typo. Did they mean "10" instead of "0" - leaving out the "1"? His response was no, Quiznos says that salad has zero carbs.

Don't know about you, but I won't be hustling into Quizno's anytime soon to get it. Common sense and basic nutritional calculation tells me there is no such thing possible with the components they say are in it.

Yeah, that had to be a typo. No salad has 0 carbs, as we all know veggies are where we get most of our daily carbs. let us know what they say...

I actually tried the roast beef salad with the Ranch and BBQ sauce. I had a coupon for it and figured I would try it because of the 0 carb advertised on it. It was good, but I wondered if the carb count was true.

I'm a fan of the Chicken Carbonara Flatbread. 8 carbs!

I guess there's really nothing to keep them from saying almost anything they want about the carb content of their food. Clearly they don't care about accuracy. Even if they only put one cherry tomato (.6 grams carb) on their greens and nothing else, the carb count would easily tally up to more than 1. If they put five or six (as most places do) that really ups the carb count! It definitely can't be ZERO!

That being the case, I don't trust ANY of the nutritional information Quiznos is putting out on any of their products. The money in my pocket will stay there all the way down the street to Subway who DOES appear to want to be accurate and offer full disclosure of their nutrition facts.

Write them back and ask them if they had ever heard of the legal term misrepresentation (Quizno's).

One their website is says less than one carb...not 0 carbs. I've had it twice and thought it was very good....lots of meat and bacon. I agree that I dont know how it can be so low in carbs with the barbque sauce....they use the regular sauce that's used on their sandwhiches.

Sara S --- I've e-mailed them twice and tagged the e-mails so I know they got them. No response at all from Quiznos. That tells me something. Salad greens, cherry tomatoes, "regular" barbecue sauce and salad dressing with an unknown number of carbs. ZERO is an impossible carb count for that salad. "Misrepresentation" would be a kind way of putting it. It seems to me that they're lying through their collective teeth. I shall protest by taking my salad-buying dollars anywhere EXCEPT Quiznos until they decide that honesty is the best policy.

I'm glad that I ran a search on this before posting the exact same thing! I heard that Quiznos new craveable salads had low carbs and that the Roadhouse Ranch had zero. I thought the same thing as you! Salad alone has carbs. They lie! I ordered the salad without the BBQ sauce and just had the ranch. Let's bombard them with questions about their no/low carb claims and contact the media. Ha!

Yea, and Quiznos was one place when asked about a year ago what on their menu would be approriate for a low carb diet said something to the effect that they were not concerned if low carb 'fad' dieters liked their menu or not--they could simply order a sandwich and not eat the bread--they were reported to be pretty snotty about it --funny how now not only are they trying to cater to us, but they are trying to make it look like they are the only place on earth that has carbless veggies! :guns I won't be eating there I can tell you that!

Their website says less than 1 gram NET carbohydrates then goes on to explain net carbs.

You know, I sent Quiznos several emails asking them how they could possibly be advertising their salads as "zero carbs" because its simply not
possible and it is false advertising. They have yet to respond! I can't believe they are getting away with this still! :no
