  • Fogo de Chao

It's not fast food and it is expensive but this restaurant is a lo-carber's dream come true. The salad bar is like nothing I've ever seen - no mayonnaise laden pastas. No pasta at all actually. Blanched and chilled peppers, broccoli, and asparagus. Fresh greens, ceasar salad, endive, fresh mozzarella, artichoke hearts, prosciutto, wedges of parmesan, sun dried tomatoes to die for, gosh it was wonderful. And then they bring skewers of grilled meats around and cut you off as much as you want. No sugary sauces, just grilled spiced beef, pork, chicken, and sausage. Some wrapped in bacon, some loaded with garlic. Just wonderful. They do offer mashed potatoes, fried bananas, and polenta but it's not on your plate and you can say "no thanks" when they bring it to you.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! It's nice to be able to go to a nice restaurant and not feel like you have to modify every dish to make it fit your WOL, this place is low-carb as it is. Of course, being as expensive as it is, I only eat there every now and then. But when a special occasion rolls around, I demand Fogo de Chao!

THE BEST EVER!!!!! My hubby goes like once a month for work, so I can usually guilt a trip at least every quater. OMG. If I didn't have the beginings of the flu right now I would be salivating.

Thanks everyone. There's one close enough to me for a birthday dinner (Hmm... in four days...) so I sent my hubby the link. Uh, how much does this generally cost? Considering where I took him for his birthday, that's not a big deal but I'd like the warning.

Pretty pricey. I can't remember the exact cost, but I think it is fixed, and about the price of a steak dinner at the fanciest joint in town.

About $25 for lunch, $50 for dinner. Watch out (if on induction) for the picanha as its seasoned with sea salt.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is wrong with sea salt on induction?

                  Nothing, unless you're avoiding salt.
