  • The Cheesecake Factory!!!

So you'll be asking, WHAT was she thinking? Well, my family was visiting, and we needed a place to go out that could be Atkins-friendly for me and Weight Watchers-friendly for my Mom. I knew CF had great salads, so we went there.

What a treat! My dad and I each had the Luau Salad, which has: Fresh Slices of Grilled Chicken Breast Layered with Mixed Greens, Cucumbers, Green Onions, Red and Yellow Peppers, Green Beans, Mango and Crisp Wontons with Macadamia Nuts and Sesame Seeds. I had it without the wontons, obviously, and had olive oil on the side. How delish!

My mom also had an Atkins-friendly salad, the Cobb: Chicken Breast, Avocado, Blue Cheese, Bacon, Tomato, Egg and Lettuce.

For dessert, you'll never believe it: we had their new 6-carb cheesecake made with Splenda! Split 3 ways, it was just the right amount when you're already stuffed. Seriously, you would NEVER know it was artificially sweetened - it was absolutely amazing... so good we went back for individual portions to have while we were watching the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night! Really, as an occasional treat - and I mean, maybe once a month, because we all know how Splenda can cause carb creep - this is absolutely amazing for OWLians and above.

CF has some wonderful meal selections that are Atkins-friendly! If you have tried any others, I would love to hear about it!

They make the most wonderful omelettes, too. mmmm. And the cheesecake tastes sinful but it's so not.

Damn it...damn it... damn it.... you MADE ME do it !!

I tried a piece of this low-carb cheesecake the other day. Actually 1/2 on Saturday and 1/2 on Sunday. It was very yummy.... but the only thing I know about it is it's net carb count. I DON'T like that. I tried to look up the calories/fat/carb/protein/ingredients online, but I couldn't find any information.

I ended up using a similiar low-carb cheesecake recipe's nutrient info to add it to my fitday.

I think the recipes here might come up with something that's even better... with fewer carbs and calories. I've got to start trying to come up with something. (i'm not a cook, so it could take a while)

What are you favorite low-carb cheesecake recipes??

Someone at Low Carb Friends posted this quite some time ago. If you look closely, you'll see that besides Splenda, their cheesecake also contains maltitol so be careful.

"I wrote to the Cheesecake Factory to ask for nutrition information. I received a nice reply.
I tried to copy and paste....but not all of it would copy and paste. There are 610 calories in a slice of the 6 carb cheesecake (12 slices per cheesecake). It was delicious!!!....but definitely a splurge that you would want to plan for. (FYI- I did have to definitely go to the restroom about 30 minutes or so after this!) The following is what I could copy & paste.

              CCF 6 Carb Original

Net Effective Carbohydrates = Total Carbohydrates (39g) – Dietary Fiber (12g) – Sugar Alcohol (22g) = 5g Net Effective Carbohydrates

INGREDIENTS: Cream Cheese (Pasteurized Milk and Cream, Cream Culture, Salt, Xanthan and/or Carob Bean and/or Guar Gums), Eggs, Erythritol, Walnuts, Polydextrose, Low Carb Crumb (Polydextrose, Cornstarch, Palm Oil, Eggs, Soy Protein Concentrate, Enriched Wheat Flour [Contains Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid], Vital Wheat Gluten, Maltitol, Natural Flavor, Baking Powder [Baking Soda, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Cornstarch], Salt, Sucralose), Sour Cream (Cultured Cream, Nonfat Milk, Vegetable Enzyme), Butter, Splenda (sucralose), Vanillin (Artificial Flavor), Vegetable Gum"

                HoosierBuckeye--
You want to be very careful about salads with lots of ingredients...not sure if you are on induction but if you are you want to avoid the mango, macadamia nuts and the dressing...also i dont think the carb cheesecake is such a great idea--definitely risk the chance of falling out of ketosis. try mixing cream cheese with splenda or adding a little bit of pumpkin or cocoa--much safer!!!-- also cheesecake is out of control with portions so you want to watch portion sizes making sure you do not exceed your 3 cups of veggies (if on induction)

                  Re: The Cheesecake Factory!!!

I went to CF for dinner last night... yum! Well, I've never been a huge fan of CF in general, I think it's WAY over-hyped. It's a pretty standard, run of the mill restaurant. Decent food, HUGE portions, and they try to dress it up a little bit by turning the lights low and having painted ceilings? Haha just my opinion.

Anyway, I had the California omelette... good, not great, which is what I'd expected. I probably should have had a salad instead, I think I would have liked that better. I got tomatos instead of potatos on the side and didn't get bread.

BUT THEN... I had the 6 carb cheesecake for dessert. WOW that is the best treat I've had in two months! I got it with strawberries and whipped cream, which addsd carbs, but it was so worth it! Instead of their normal glazed strawberries, they bring out 3 fresh strawberries and it was like pure heaven. VERY VERY tasty. I will definitely be going there as an occasional treat!

The second I am off induction and am running the 2 miles from my house to TCCF to get that lo-carb delight. It's not the Key Lime I usually get, but it will definetly do.

                          Re: The Cheesecake Factory!!!

Just a warning about that cheesecake. I ate there in Phoenix and the food was excellent. Then the chssescake was even better. My sweet wife found a place online to buy me and entire cheesecake! I was literally having it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

So enjoy it as a treat in the restaurant from time to time, but I would not suggest having an entire cheesecake in your fridge.

                            Re: The Cheesecake Factory!!!

I ust got an email from a friend of mine who works at Cheesecake Factory:

"You said that you had ordered the broccoli last time you were at Cheesecake Factory. They boil the broccoli in the pasta water, and the water itself is full of starch from the pasta. I don’t know if that would effect your diet, but I’m sure that the starch clings to the broccoli. I thought of that walking back over here and realized that it would probably tick off quite a few people if they knew. L I should start sending the servers to their tables with a disclaimer whenever I can see that someone is trying to go with no carbs, and suggest the green beans or snow peas… "
