I order the fajitas without tortillas. Take it easy on those grilled onions, though.

Yolanda I am soooooooooo with you!!!!

This early in going to a Mexican restaurant would be too much temptation. I am a margarita nut! I could tell you just about every place in town that has margarita specials and what night!!!

I have been having taco salad at home though.. and to replace the shell i add in a few pork rinds!

                  What I order is.........

When I go to our local Mex. food rest. I order a dish that is yummy.

It is made up of a grilled chicken breast, smothered with cheese sauce and crawfish. mmmmmmmmmm Of course, I have them hold the rice and beans but have them add grilled veggies. I am not sure how many carbs are in it but my family loves Mex. food and it is a great lower carb option.

Any flour in the taco meat mix..???

I guess I am just a little fearful... I loved taco and fajita salads even before starting Atkins... I am afraid now that the meat mixtures might be thickened with flour... Anyone know for sure..??? **S**

                      eating out mexican

if you have fajitas, carnitas, or carne asada and can't have tortillas, request for lettuce leaves (romain preferred) so you can make our own version of Atkins "tacos" (basically lettuce wraps). like it was said before, skip the onions on your plate. most mexican sauces do not use sugar nor flour, because they're based on pureed chile. so if you have pork and green chile, or red chile, you're fine. ceviche is allowed, but not the crackers or tostada, but you can have it on a pork rinds for that CRUNCH (if you cant just scoop it up). also, stay away from the MOLE, since that's made with sweetened chocolate and peanuts--which are ok after induction, but they may cheat and use peanut butter and THAT may have sugar. Camarones al mojo de ajo (shrimp w/ garlic and butter) is completely safe, as is most unbreaded fish and seafood dishes. for soup you can have COCIDO which is a beef shank stew w/ vegies, just skip the potatoes, the corn cob, and the carrots, depending upon where you are in the akins phases. menudo or pozole without the hominy is good too, and hominy is fine in the later phases. real/homemade guacamole and salsa are safe, and you can request celery sticks for scooping.

Last time I was in a Mexican restaurant, they had a shrimp dish that I can't remember the name of. It was basically shrimp with onions and tomato, in a sauce that was clear brown, thick, and strong tasting. Does anyone know what I'm referring to? If so, is it safe?

You sound like you know what you are talking about with the Mexican . Do you by any chance know what goes into Camarones Diablo or how to make it though? Is this an Atkins friendly dish?
