Geez.... it's hard to eat out at all. Almost sounds like a McDonald's double cheeseburger without the bun and ketchup is safer than chicken or steak in a nicer place.

You can eat out, but you just need to be aware of the little things that can happen to your food. Chefs will use a pinch of sugar or a slosh of balsamic vinegar here and there in order to improve the taste of mediocre quality food.

A pinch of sugar on steammed vegetables make the veggies taste "fresher". That's a trick used quite often in Chinese cooking. Balsamic vinegar has a sweet-sour taste that can be used to enhance or cover up other tastes.

I eat out maybe once a every couple of weeks. I never count a restaurant grilled chicken breast as 0 net carbs. I typically count it as 5 just in case they put something in that isn't completely legal. I know some places will list lettuce or a mixed green salad as 0 net carbs. Again, I usually follow the carb count for the carbiest veggie in that salad.

Just be aware and enjoy your meal.

That's about how often I eat out, and I've been getting very frustrated because everything that seems like it's fine has something going on like the sugar in steaks and chicken.

I'll just bump up my carb counts like you said and enjoy my occasional meal out.

          Thanks, Megs!

Isn't that the craziest thing?? I've never seen anybody do that before and I can't even imagine that it's good. Ruins good broccoli if you ask me!
