    Re: olive garden asiago chicken

that's a good question...I don't know either. I know almost all of them in the store are 3g for a quarter cup, but I don't know what Olive Garden puts in theirs. Since I used to work at a Darden Restaurant, I would be willing to bet that they don't actually make the alfredo sauce on site...it probably comes in a bag. You could ask the server to do some looking around for you. The bags (at least the ones that came into Red Lobster years back) didn't have the nutritional information on them, but the boxes that the bags came in did. Ask them to look for you...let them work a bit for their money.

      Try this site: http://www.dietfacts.com/html/nutrit...ates-39147.htm

This is a list of Olive Garden's entrees under 20 grams of carbs.

Call ahead of time and ask them about the carbohydrate count or ingredients of their Alfredo sauce. Then when you order, ask to have your alfredo sauce on the side.

yeah ive seen this site before but it says nothing about things such as alfredo sauce or salad dressing etc, it just lists the foods that are ok to eat and this is something they came out with this past week so its not listed on it the site.

Well, you'll have to call Olive Garden directly and ask them. Report back here when you do.

Be careful with this dish--I had it at a few weeks ago, and it came with a light breading! I had *no* way of knowing this would happen, because the menu simply said "grilled chicken." The breading was very light, which is why I only noticed it as I began scaping at the weird surface of the chicken. I sent it back and asked for it without the breading, and even the waitress was like, "There's breading on here?!"

I thought the dish was going to be safe, as I just left the alfredo sauce off altogther.

Maybe this is just a fluke thing that happened with me--just wanted to let everyone know.

I work at applebees and they have the asiago chicken. However, they just want my MONAY!!!! but yea applebees isn't a bad choice for lowcarbie foods. They got WWfoods but they only consist of a big salad with grilled steak or chicken

                    Re: olive garden asiago chicken

I just had a visit to Olive Garden yesterday and talked to the chef already on the low carb options (he seemed to be very familiar with Atkins). I think, the "Venetian Apricot Chicken" would be a good choice.

The order has apricot-citrus souce. If you are not in your fruit rung yet, you can replace it with lemon butter souce (souce has little bit of wine in it, not sure if this is OK) but the best for me was alfredo souce on the side since I am already in my dairy rung (I hope this is OK . I just had a little bit of it anyway. Cheese is really concentrated in there, so it has considerable carbs. As per to Fitday, 1/3 cup (which I think is the size of the soufflé cup they serve the souce in) = ~ 5.5 carbs.

Depending on whether you order the luncheon or dinner portion of the Venetian Apricot Chicken, Einy, use caution!!!

According to www.thedailyplate.com, the dinner portion of this dish has 448 calories, 11 grams of fat, 32 grams of carbs and 30 grams of protein. The entry for the luncheon portion doesn't indicate any carbs but I'm sure that is an oversight.

IrishIrish, thanks for the info. I actually had the dinner portion. I think the 32gm carbs are from the sides and the apricot-citrus souce (the souce is sugary), but execluding the sides and the souce, I would be REALLY surprised if mine had any carbs in there. They were just grilled chicken breast.. no breading, no souce, nothing..

Have to admit though that I had very little choices there.. Pasta & breading is almost every where in the menu.

Olive Garden's Alfredo is safe. I have a mock-recipe - 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cube of butter, 1/4 teas garlic powder and 1/4 c parmesan cheese. Simmer the first 3 ingredients for 8 minutes, stir in parmesan, and pour over steamed vegies, chicken, shrimp, etc.
