Ok, is it just my imagination... or is this just abusing the whole "Low Carb" label.

They've trademarked "Low Carbys" so maybe that can mean whatever they want it to.

I did a bit more digging, here's the sauce info for the "dipping sauces":

Honey Mustard = 5 net carbs
Mayonnaise "Packet" = 0 net carbs
Southwest Sauce = 5 net carbs

Checking some other areas of the Arby's site shows that these were all part of the "Market Fresh(r) Wraps" menu... just recently relabeled as Low Carbys.

      Low vs. Lower

Compared to the same sandwiches using bread, yes, they are lower in carbs, but since there is no set definition for "low carb", foodmakers can put out these things and slap that label on them.

In restaurants, I am very wary of any dressing or sauce, and I'll order anything like that wrap without sauce. Notice that all of the sugars are found in the sauces above! Also you have no control over how much they slather on your food, so it's best to measure and take control of your own food.

I appreciate any restaurant effort to provide fresh vegetables and meat and something other than bread as an option. But "buyer beware" and know what's on/in these foods before jumping like a fish at a lure when you read/hear the words "low carb".

      Thanks for the info jpkelley!

Well, the thing to keep in mind is that low carb does not always equal Atkins, there are a variety of low-carb plans out there.

Also, the number of carbs is quite acceptible in those wraps even on Atkins once you are in the later rungs of OWL, or in maintenance. Definately don't look like an induction food though...

This used to be a STICKY in the main forum, but it's not there anymore. If you eat out, here's one of the most useful web sites there is. It has nutritional info on more than 290 national chain restaurants, mostly fast food. Always pays to look up a menu BEFORE you go out to eat!
