Ok, I have been getting a Venti Americano with Heavy Whipping Creme (3TBS) and Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup.

Does anyone know how many carbs that would be? I have been counting 5carbs, but I am thinking it may be more.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something with less carbs that tastes as great as this from Starbucks????? ensive

(I am currently in OWL, but have been stalled and I am trying to go back to the 20carbs or less for a while.)

Thanks MotherOfGizmo. I have actually been stalled for the last month or so. I am trying to make little changes here and there.

I'd say less than 5 carbs...

Heavy cream has less than 1 carb per 2 tbls, so if you are using three, just count it as 1.5 to be safe.

Americano is made with espresso, right? A shot of espresso is just under 1 gram carbs, so, if you take yours with a single shot, your whole drink is 2.5 grams, if you take it with a double, it is 3.5.

I am a total starbucks addict!! You know, I never knew they had sugar free vanilla syrup! I'm so excited to find this out. :icondance While on Atkins I get the coffee of the day with heavy whipping cream. But now, I'm going to have to add a shot of the sugar free vanilla! One of my friends who is also on Atkins gets the latte with heavy whipping cream(instead of the milk or whatever they normally put in it) and she seems to really like that.

www.starbucks.com has an area you can go into and it shows all the carb counts for the varying coffee drinks.

there are only a few that DON'T have double digit carb counts, but the caffe americano (espresso + water, straight up, no cream) has 3 carbs, if you get a grande. The tall has 2.

I was kinda surprised poking around in there, because I just assumed (mistakenly, apparently) that plain coffee would be 0 carbs.

just thought I would pass it along if anyone was interested. I am not a Starbucks fan, and haven't been there in ages. I am having a VERY hard time detoxing from Border's Books and Music's chai - iced and hot. Yum. I'm afraid to even look at what that would cost me carb-wise. :yes I've been brewing spiced tea @ home and doctoring it up a bit, when I have a "must-have moment."

Yep, all coffee has carbs - usually less than one per serving but the problem with places like Starbucks is that their serving sizes are way big!
Also be careful if you get sugar free syrups at any of these places, several folks have busted them putting in the regular syrups thinking that you wouldn't know the difference -Jerks!

                    Re: Starbucks

I used to live at Starbucks. They knew to start my raspberry mocha when I walked in the door. <sobbing wildly>

Now what they do is give me an iced coffee mixed with 1 splenda and heavy cream...not as good, but I like sitting outside and talking to my teenage daughters at Starbucks.

On VERY special occasions, I bring 1 1/2 tablespoons of powdered cocoa and some sugar-free raspberry syrup to Starbucks and have them give me a tall coffee with room for cream. Then I dump in my cocoa and syrup, and....YUM!

I work at a coffee stand and we have sugar free syrups, but there are still 3 carbs for every 1 oz.... so watch out.

If you go to Mexico, be carefull with the whipped cream in starbucks, it is not sugar free.

                            Re: Starbucks

I work at a bakery/coffee/sandwich shop and spend a lot of time at the espresso machine, so whenever I'm craving something sweet I make myself an iced breve with a little sugar free caramel and sugar free vanilla syrup (a makeshift caramel macchiato). I figure it's better than getting a cookie or filled croissant from the bakery. I drank breves my first time around and still lost 80 pounds, and one every once in awhile still isn't hurting me. I kind of have my own twist on Atkins, thouhg. Breves are so much better and creamier than lattes, too; and I don't understand why people come in and order a latte with skim milk and have me add full-sugar syrups. Whatever floats their boats, I suppose!

If you love the espresso but can't afford starbucks, get an espresso machine! You can get one for 30 bucks at Wal-Mart, and buy your own espresso. This is the second coffee shop I've worked at, and they definitely overcharge. I sure wouldn't pay our prices for the drinks I make for myself.
