        Re: Starbucks

I'm not a Starbucks die-hard fan, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE those blended coffees that you could get. I would always order some sort of mocha blended coffee with caramel and whipped cream...I would have those for breakfast...so healthy huh? I haven't had any sort of coffee in months, and if I did have it again, it'd have to be decaf--I don't want to awaken the caffiene monster!

I know they have sugar free and low carb blended Big Train drinks, but I think they're still pretty high in carbs...guess i'll have to hold out a little longer.

I did have a treat the other day, and I too had to estimate on the carb count. I had an Italian soda, made with sugar free amaretto syrup, club soda, and heavy cream. I'm guessing it was about 5 carbs--it was a small one. It was really rich, and I think it might be my new favorite treat!

            Re: Starbucks

2 weeks ago I was playing a long long gig...Friday Night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday Night, and Sunday Afternoon, three hour drive both ways.

I had all my snacks and such. But Sunday morning my energy was gone. I mean dead to the world. I didn't know how I was ever going to get through 4 more hours of playing.

we hit a Starbucks. I got 5 shots of espesso. Sugar Free Cinnamon Dulche Syrup, Heavy Whipping Cream... (14 carbs total for everything......)

20 minutes later, I was zipping off the walls!! haha.

But....bad news is......................I crashed (body, system - not my car haha) hard that night on the way home, the caffiene had given me the worst headache ever.

I still lost a few pounds that weekend, but I doubt I will do that again until the next time. lol.

I guess I mean to say it was an emergency situation.

Oh yes, Mother of Gizmo is correct................it was too dang expensive to do!!! That drink was like $7.00 or more plus I tipped them......

It's all good. I usually only drink coffee on the weekends, I make my own, Starbucks is to costly.

Pulp Fiction - 'Did you just order a $5.00 milkshake, thats just ice cream and milk, right, $5.00 for a milkshake?'

John Travolta takes a drink...... 'Damn, that's pretty good, I don't know if it's worth $5.00, but it's pretty good'

            haha

              Re: Starbucks

Don't even get me started...I'm in my last semester at Berklee, studying production and engineering. I think in the last two weeks of last semester, I was in the studio or working on a project for 72 hours at a stretch.. I was lucky to get like 2-3 hours of sleep a night. You bet I pretty much lived in Starbucks when I wasn't recording or mixing. I've broken their hold on me, though. I took the plunge and bought a nice french press and a good grinder. That together with free coffee from friends who work at Starbucks and other coffee chains around, I think I'm set for awhile. I can only imagine how much coffee I will consume once I hit LA and start REALLY working...

              Cheers!

                Re: Starbucks

Watch out for the caffeine content, I read that it could stall the diet. Starbuck is very tempting since theres one in my campus and another across the street from that one lol.

I have been getting Venti 2 equal whole milk Lattes for about a week, I know it shouldn't be low carb, but I have stayed in Ketosis and continued to lose weight at a rapid pace. Do you think something happens to the milk sugar when its steamed? Could it possibly be denatured, or somehow rendered incative? Or am I just one lucky freak?

                    Re: Starbucks

I have a decaf iced coffee (small) with heavy cream and Splenda - love it! I heard a tip to save some cents that you should get the small house coffee ($1,62 or so) and ask for a cup of ice and a shot of heavy and then pour it over yourself. If you order it iced it's about $2. But I have to say I'm too embarrassed to do that.

If it turns out you are just one lucky freak, be happy, keep losing, and if you start to stall you know where to cut back at first.

okay I am over my splendas quota today....
one cup of office coffee with 2 splenda's
then my buddy said lets go to starbucks, and I have not had starbucks recently.
so I got a small with heavy cream steamed , 2 splenda
and of course I had to bring my ice tea large cup for a black tea refill
and I put 2 splendas and one equal in it.
My name is charlie , I am a carbo-caffine-sugarfreesweetner addicted.

They have Sugar Free Vanilla and Cinnamon Dolche (both great) and I just saw they have SF Carmel and Mocha at some locations. It is sweetened with sucralose.

I've been ordering a decaf short whole milk sugar free mocha (or sugar free vanilla, or sugar free caramel) latte. If you just want a taste, the short is smaller than the tall. With the milk it should only be about 9 carbs. Before starting Atkins I lived in Starbucks, so I have to have it at least once a week.
