  • my happy trip to burger king

    Hello everyone!

I went to Burger King for lunch. I wasn't really hungry, but I was scheduled to donate blood an hour later, so I figured had better eat something, they always have high carb munchies and juice for the donors after you give blood.

I have heard of others on the board asking restaurants for food minus the high carb things, like rice, pasta, and buns. I was feeling shy, I had never done this before. I was going to order my double whopper and take the bun off myself, but I decided to tell them just how I wanted it. After all, BK's motto is "We make it your way."

It looked so cute! They the burgers in a baked potato dish and topped it off with the veggies and condiments. Silly me though, I forgot to tell them to hold the ketchup. Most of the ketchup was on the pickles, so I just picked them off.

It was so good! I am really glad I did this instead of getting a salad. The salad would have had too many veggies on it. I estimated about a half cup of veggies on it.

The double whopper cost $2.99 plus tax. The old me would have bought a value meal and that would have cost me 50 cents more than my double whopper mini salad. I ordered water as well. As a plus, this particular Burger King had seltzer water for free. I LOVE seltzer water!

Next time I go out to eat, I will order it just the way I want and not feel embarrassed about it at all. It was easy!

    Bacon Double Cheeseburger

I never thoughts to do what you did. That's great.

My typical BK meal is two bacon double cheeseburgers, no ketchup, no mustard. I think that comes to about 0.7 grams per burger, once the bun is removed. It's filling and makes a great lunch on the go.

I manage a Burger King- and lately we have gotten several request for sanwiches without bun- we don't mind doing it- especially after my employees are seeing the difference in the way I look- Though I have gotten some really strange looks when I go into our competator and asked for a sandwich without a bun though.

Yup, went to BK today and got the double whopper. I never used to get the double meat burgers because it was just too much food. Boy, that bun really fills you up! Now, with 2 meats, I just take the second piece and cover the lettuce/tomatoes/pickles and I can still eat it like a burger instead of with a knife & fork. A "little" messy, but it's fun.

Thank you for this discussion. I've been on two days (wow!) and work in the middle of downtown Atlanta. I've been wondering what to eat for lunch when I don't bring it. Burger King is right across the street from me. Today, Double Whopper with cheese, no onions (they have sugar, right?), no ketchup, no mustard. According to BK's web site, 2 grams of carbs!

I've never had them get it right, so I just throw the buns out myself and scrape the ketchup. Now Fuddruckers even has a button on their cash register for no-bun hamburgers.

yummmmm...I took the suggestion from this post and I got myself a Double Whopper W/cheese -bun, -ketchup, -onions. They looked at me like I was a little crazy but it worked out just fine! Unfortunately, they didn't put any mayonnaise or mustard on it, either, so it was kinda 'dry'. Ah well...it was yummy!

I think this is a great idea for lunch! Except, I don't think we can eat the cheese at BK. I think it's processed cheese. I sure hope I'm wrong, because I love cheese on my burgers!!!
