  • Beware the broccoli at The Cheesecake Factory

From a friend of mine who works at TCF.
You said that you had ordered the broccoli last time you were at Cheesecake Factory. They boil the broccoli in the pasta water, and the water itself is full of starch from the pasta. I don’t know if that would effect your diet, but I’m sure that the starch clings to the broccoli. I thought of that walking back over here and realized that it would probably tick off quite a few people if they knew. L I should start sending the servers to their tables with a disclaimer whenever I can see that someone is trying to go with no carbs, and suggest the green beans or snow peas…

She said the other veggies are all fine...the snow peas and the asparagus and spinach.

Oh, she also said it's not on the menu, but you can ask for your burger "protein style" and they'll wrap it in lettuce.

Re: Beware the broccoli at The Cheesecake Factory

                Speaking of Sabotaged food....

The other night we are at Outback Steak house.. We split a prime rib and I asked for grilled vegetables.. When They came I started eating them and realized they tasted really sweet. Then I put my glasses on and saw that there was crusted sugar on some of the onion slices. We called the manager and she said that their grilled vegetables had always come with a sweet ginger glaze... "NOT!!!"

I flat out called her a liar. I told her that I'd been eating at OBSH for years and one of the reasons was because I could get grilled veggies instead of steamed... They have never been coated with sugar.. She said "Really?" I guess she was a new manager..

Anyhow.. it may just have been that OBSH, but I'm going to be very cautious if I go back again...
