  • Indian food???

What is good to order at an Indian Restaurant? I love vindaloo and curry and, well, pretty much all of it. Any recommendations? Or where I can find nutritional information? I've been searching for info, but haven't found it yet. Thanks!

Indian curries are not a problem in and of themselves, although the vegetables they include may be. Indian curries are made almost exclusively of a mix of herbs, and they rarely add any sort of thickener or sugar. Now chicken Masala is a sweetened sauce that probably is a problem.

I believe Vindaloo uses lots of potatoes, which are right out.

im pretty sure that chicken makhani (butter chicken) is fine to eat...as far as i know it has butter, sour cream, and some tomato paste(not much), tandoori paste(which is the only thing that needs checking out b.c. im not sure of the ingredients----mostly herbs and spices i believe)

and chicken is all in there. its my fave, delicious

after you figure out the tandoori paste contents you can basically have any meat with tandoori seasonings. tandoori tikka and chicken are delicious. and sometimes if u like ad a little lemon juice for some added flavor!

Sorry this reply is so late, but I figured since I am half Indian, and we have indian food on a daily basis, I can try to guide you in the right direction.

Curry is safe to eat, cause almost every curry is thickened naturally (by simmering it for a long time) they do not use flour or cornstarch to thicken it.
Tandoori chicken is the safest, as it is simply chicken with delicious (and legal) spices, and then grilled in a clay oven. Most of the meat dishes are safe to eat, because we add no sugar whatsoever in our dishes.

The only hard part was giving up the rice, as rice is a staple for us I used to miss it a lot, but Im getting used to it.

p.s: Im on maintainance, so can I add rice or pasta back in my diet or not?

What about...um, I can't remember what it's called, but it's basically cauliflower with some other veggies, in an orangish sauce, cooked so it falls apart in your mouth. Does it have any starches in it?
