      Re: McDonald's burgers

Sometimes I buy the cheeseburger with the bun and feed the bread to the birds and animals... I always wondered about checkers burgers. I really used to love those but their nutritional chart shows the entire burger with bread and condiments. So it's hard to figure out what just the meat pattie part is made of.

        Re: McDonald's burgers

I am on the go most of the time, and I sometimes drive through McD's and order two of the double cheese burgers (only 99 cent each) minus the onion and ketchup. Of course I remove the bun, but it is good to know that I can order it without the bun. I hate to waste the bun.

Also...most of the fast food places now offer Minute Maid "Light" Lemonade. It has 2 carbs per 12oz serving (only 5 cals). I usually mix it with 1/2 water and 1/2 lemonade. It's a nice flavor without too many carbs. McD's here in San Diego has an summer long deal... 79cents for a 44oz drink. If I get the 44oz drink, then I mix it with 1/3 lemonade and 2/3 water. Still delicious!

i know i should plan more. but still i like a diet where i can eat 2 burgers no bun in a pinch no ketchup.

One thing that I did notice though...the Angus burgers have seasoning that contains sugar, and so they do have more carbs even if you order them with no bun or condiments.
                Started 8/31/09: 235.8lbs.
                9/29/09: 227.0
                10/13/09: 224.0 (yes, it's slow, but it's still happening!)
                Goal: 140 lbs. AND...
I'd like a regular bath towel to fit all the way around me.
I'd like to be able to fit into clothes bought at a regular store, not a store for "large women".
I'd like to go on the annual rafting trip with my kids, confident that if I get tossed out of the raft into the river, I'll be able to hoist my backside back in with a minimum of embarasment!

I love the new burgers at McD. Carl Jr's also has a great low carb burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf. I ask that they don't put any sauce on it because I'm suspicious.. then I add my own mayo/mustard combo

For those of you in places with Hardee's... that's the same as Carl Jr's.

And I love their low carb version burger.

An alternative to McDonalds is Culvers. Their burgers are 100% beed and delicious. A little more expensive than MickyD's but worth it.

Do you think that most McDonalds will know what I mean if I just ask for a McDouble low carb?

                              Re: McDonald's burgers

I think it really depends on who is working behind the counter. I went to McDonald's one time and asked for the grilled chicken club sandwich with no bread and the girl behind the counter stood there and argued with me forever and I finally just gave in and said forget it just make it and I will take it apart myself. I would love to be able to go somewhere and for once be able to order something low carb and not have to do it myself, but it seems like every place around my house has yet to figure the whole process out or they think making a burger without a bun is impossible.

You simply order it without the bun. Don't say "low carb" ... because then you're relying on someone else to know what that means.

I don't understand why they couldn't have given you a grilled chicken club without the bun ...

Of course, I would have asked to speak to the manager.
