  • Any Recommendations in Chicago, Austin or San Francisco?

I will be travelling to Chicago, Austin and San Francisco later this fall. Any of you in those cities have Atkins-friendly good restaurants that you would recommend? I will really miss that famous Chicago popcorn (carmel and cheese!) this time around!

When you are in SanFrancisco, you must go to "House of Prime Rib". Yes the name is corny, but you will find dark wood decor and comfortable tables, a beautiful bar with a tremendous wine list, an elegant dining area, but you can go "smart casual" and the best prime rib DH and I have ever eaten in our lives.
They slice the rib tableside, they wheel over these giant steam tables and you can select which piece you want them to cut it off. Dinner includes salad tossed with their house champagne dressing, done tableside, creamed spinach, and yorkshire pudding. I am unsure of counts on the dressing, but I would say the yorkie pudding is an atkins no-no.
Oh, and the best part, if you finish your prime rib and feel you want a little more, they are more than happy to slice you another thin piece!!!!
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited
For something a little different, there is a tiny Chinese deli in Chinatown, on the corner of Broadway and Powell (trolley stop is not too far away). I have no idea what the name of the place is, but it has all the ducks hanging in the window and that kind of thing. I was last there about a year ago, and you can get the hugest portion of roast pork, or duck, or whatever you want, with tea and rice for about $5.00.(obviously, dont eat the rice). DH and I were the only non-asians in the place, so you know it was good!! Its a little off the touristy track in Chinatown, but there is a Powell street cablecar, as I said.
Enjoy your trip. Hope this was helpful. We love SanFrancisco!
