  • salad dressing?

What salad dressings have you all found to be low in carbs? I have only found one with 1 gram per 2tablespoons, and I don't like it very much. I am going shopping tonight so any help would be great.

Blue Cheese is generally pretty low carb, oil and vinegar is great, or the book, Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution has some easy to make dressings.

I agree with Christian. Kens creamy caesar dressing rocks.

Annie's Goddess and Shiitake Vinaigrette are both tasty and 1g/2T. Trader Joe's creamy garlic dressing is 0g/2T (I count it as 0.5 to be safe).

Do you bring salad dressing with you to restaurants or somehow check with the kitchen to see how many carbs are in their dressings? Extreme, but I suppose if it's a special occasion it would be worth talking to someone in the kitchen about low-carb meals you could order.

I often fall back on a chicken salad, no croutons, with salsa and sour cream since there usually isn't too many ways the kitchen will add extra carbs to that!

Depending on who I'm eating with (lol-- probably just my mom!), I wouldn't mind bringing along my own salad dressing. Do I need to get over the embarrassment of bringing my own or keep avoiding the unknown dressings (some could really be high carb )?

Thank you Aimee! This is what I needed instead of bringing a store-bought bottle of dressing with me. I can just say it's my favorite dressing. It's easier to be peculiar when you simply look like a fussy eater instead of a carb fanatic. :P

Anyone else bring their own salad dressing with them? I've been checking carb counts on restaurant dressings and it's shocking how high many of them are.

I've turned mini jack daniels bottles into salt and pepper shakers... I might use something similar for my dressing bottle. ...there's usually someone willing to polish off the original contents for me.

                    Dressing!

Annie's Goddess Dressing is the best dressing I've ever tasted. Period. I am soooooo grateful I can eat it on Induction! Only 1 gram of carbs in 2 Tablespoons.

Everyone I've turned on to this stuff LOVES it.

Thanks for the other dressing suggestions, I know I'll want a little variety eventually

Dr. Atkins in his book suggested lemon juice and spices. Lemon juice, garlic and paprika make a killer salad dressing!

                        milk?

what if the salad dressing has milk in the ingredients? Can i still eat it?

Yes - just look at the total carbs in that case. If the ingredients include sugar though, be sure to pass on it!

What does the Annie's Goddess dressing taste like? I got the Annie's Sea Vegetable and somethingarather(?), and I like it. It has that asian(Japanese) taste.
