If you have a job that likes to have office parties at high carb places, I may have a solution for you. Ask HR or a manager who decides where the office goes for the get-togethers and politely inform them you are a low-carber and give them a list of restaurants that accommodate your lifestyle. Most good companies will help as much as they can.
If you're really bold, you can call your favorite low-carb accommodating restaurant (especially if it is a local joint) and ask for the manager- owner. Praise them for serving up your favorite foods, tell them how you just wish the office would go there instead of McCarbland for XYZ holidays and you may be able to get a group discount for bringing in the whole office.
In the financial toilet our country is in right now, small businesses are hurting for revenue - a 5 or 10% discount in exchange for a party of 20 people could help a struggling restaurant. And when you go to your boss, you might be able to say "plus if we go here, we get a 10% discount as long as we make reservations with the manager/owner."
