  • Deep Fried Mushrooms

Servesepends on how many mushrooms you use.
CarbsPerServing:2.3 grams per half cup Prep Time:15 minutes
    Effort:Easy
    Ingredients:
    Original Flavored Pork Skins
    Eggs Whole Fresh Mushrooms
    How to Prepare:
Crush Pork Skins until fine and powdery. Add pepper to taste. Don't
add salt, as the pork skins tend to have enough. Coat whole
mushrooms in egg and drop in the bowl of crushed pork skins. Deep fry until golden brown. These are really good.

I love fried mushrooms!!! In fact. I had them last night!!! You can also mix the pork rinds with some parm cheese (green can), it seems to coat the mushrooms better.

I have tried this before, but my mushrooms always absorb way too much oil, any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Hey Nullo what temp is your oil? Cooking in oil thats not hot enough is the #1 reason for too much oil. I would try 350 minimum probably 375.

Hmm, maybe I just didn't let my fryer heat up enough then, I will let it pre-heat longer next time I try. The one I use doesn't have a temp gauge, so I just have to guess. If I let it go for a good 20 minutes before I toss in the mushrooms it should be over 350 though.

                          Re: Deep Fried Mushrooms

I have made these and they ROCK! The only thing is that the scale will creep up in the morning on the next day because the pork rinds have so much salt so don't be surprised by that cause it is not a real weight gain. And, yes they are induction legal.

                            Re: Deep Fried Mushrooms

I'm glad I found this! We've been keeping an eye out for morel mushrooms but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to have any because we usually bread them in flour.

Anyone else like morels? If so, how do you prepare them?

I have also made fried mushrooms by dipping them in egg and breading them with parmesean cheese and frying them! Zuccini is also delicious this way!
