I know it sounds disgusting, but I had to try them. I found the recipe on recipezaar.com and tried them and I couldn't believe how yummy they were. It Sounds disgusting, and frankly they look disgusting too, but you'd be amazed how good they are. Not at all what I was expecting. A good recipe to try if you're craving french fries. Even my husband liked them and he hates veggies. Here is the recipe (tweaked a little from the original).
Green Bean French Fries
2 lb fresh green beans
3 Tablespoons of butter (you can substitute olive oil if you prefer)
2 cloves minced garlic (I use jar kind 1 teaspoon = 2 cloves)
1 teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper (or more to taste)
Garlic powder (to taste)
1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Wash & trim green beans, and dry well.
3. Spread out green beans in a large cookie sheet in one layer.
4. Melt butter in small bowl in microwave, mix in minced garlic.
5. Drizzle melted butter & garlic mixture over green beans
6. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder over the beans (or more if you like garlic)
7. Use your hands to be sure all the beans are evenly coated and spread them out into one layer.
8. Roast in oven for 20-25 minutes, turning after 15 minutes, until beans are fairly brown in spots and somewhat shriveled (they will look nasty).
9. Serve hot or at room temperature & Enjoy.
