This was excellent. Definite 2 thumbs up!!! . I finished working out this morning & was hungry for something other than breakfast fare. During the summer I usually have hamburgers already made & in the fridge. I crumbled up a 3oz. taco burger and melted one serving of shredded mexican cheese on top of it. Then I added that 2 cups of lettuce, 7 slices of Hormel Pepperoni, & topped it with 1 serving of Old El Paso Picante sauce. Mmmmmm.

How do you make your own taco seasoning? Can you use the stuff from the store while on Induction?

I'm new to this whole thing, so forgive me if this is a dumb question.

with a quick search at Google, here's a few.... (the first two had flour/cornstarch that I omitted)

        2 tsp. chili powder
1 1/2 tsp. dried minced onion
        1 1/4 tsp. salt
        1 tsp. paprika
3/4 tsp. crushed beef bullion cube
1/4 tsp. granulated sugar -- scratch that!!! no sugar
        1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
        1/4 tsp. garlic powder
        1 dash onion powder

        --------------------------------------

        2 teaspoons instant minced onion
        1 teaspoon salt
        1 teaspoon chili powder
        1/2 teaspoon crushed red peppers
        1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
        1/4 teaspoon oregano
        1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

        ---------------------------------------

        6 tsp chili pwdr
        5 tsp paprika
        4 1/2 tsp ground cumin
        3 tsp onion pwdr
        2 1/2 tsp garlic pwdr
        1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
        1/4 tsp salt

Stir together and store in air tight cont. Use 2 - 3 tbsp of it in place of the store bought mix.
        ----------------------------------------------------

Fajita Seasoning (or x10 and store in a quart jar)

        4 tbsp chili pwdr
        2 tbsp grnd cumin
        2 tsp grnd oregano
        2 tsp garlic salt

        ----------------------------------------------------

Costco sells a Cajun seasoning that has garlic, salt, onion, paprika, oregano, white pepper, red pepper and "spice"... no thickeners. I use this for my tacos and fajitas with some salt and pepper. Cooking the meat with onion makes a big difference. These recipes would be good for ground beef, shredded beef, pork or chicken.

There's a recipe listed here for taco seasoning that is divine

Taco Bell Seasoning - Recipe by Luna

          Ingredients:
          2 teaspoons chili powder
          1 1/2 teaspoons dried onions
          1 1/4 teaspoons salt
          1 teaspoon paprika
          3/4 teaspoon beef bouillon granules

          1/2 teaspoon splenda
          1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
          1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
          1 dash onion powder

          How to Prepare:

          (For 1 lb. of hamburger)

You don't have to follow this exact of course. I never use the beef bouillion, and always go heavy on chili powder, garlic, and onion powder. I just use 1 packet splenda instead of 1/2 teaspoon bulk. Releases the flavor of the spices best if you put the dried onion in when browning the meat, then add all other spices last with about 1/4 to 1/3 cup water, mix and then cook back down.

Thanks, Brook! That's the first one I listed, but I forgot to substitute or omit the sugar. I never put sugar in my taco seasonings. Who would've thought to??
