  • Pinwheels..... easiest snack ever!

Ok I don't know if this is already on this board anywhere, but I thought I'd add it again just in case..... when I was little my Mom went to a party and came back with the recipe for an hor d'oeurve that I absolutely loved..... I've been making it for a snack ever since, and the best part is.... its totally induction-friendly!

All you do is take a slice of ham, spread cream cheese liberally on top, place a dill pickle spear in the center and roll it up. Then slice cross-wise, and you end up with a little plateful of pickle pinwheels (I always ate them with a toothpick) ..... sounds odd, but definitely worth a try, I promise! :laughing

I've been making these for years. My sister loves them. This year I made them for Christmas Eve and was excited to realize that I could eat them too. They are definitely an odd combination, but pretty darned tasty!

I tried these last night and they're awesome. I made mine with deli ham, spread on a thin layer of cream cheese, laid on some roasted peppers (found them in the olives and pickles aisle), spread on a thin layer of sour cream, sprinkled with mild cheddar cheese, and stuck a couple of little dill cocktail pickles in the middle. I rolled it all up and stuck it in the fridge a while since it'd be hard to cut otherwise without going all over the place. After it was chilled I cut it into about 1/2" sections.

            It was delicious! :icondance

I've had pinwheels before, but only the tortilla kind. I've always loved them, they're such a cool little treat. Thanks for the recipe!

I love them, even with the pickled asparagus. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, I too have loved these since I was a kid!!!! I always liked to use teh carl budding thin meat(corned beef or turkey) with them and layer them up about three slices tehn with the pickle in center! I make them a lot for special occasions with fancy little toothpicks. At work I usually keep some lunch meat, cream cheese and pickles handy, but I will just roll a whole pickle up in them and eat it for lunch sometimes, no where near as fancy but delicious anyway! Also, Weird but I like just a pickle spear with cream cheese....
Caution I BITE! clicky clicky..its tricky rikki!

                  I made something like this-

First I cut up some green onion, mix with the cream cheese, roll up in the ham. It was pretty good!

I use smoked salmon for something like this - cream cheese and some chives in the middle...
