Not sure on this, but I don't think so. Not for a clean induction

    First Started 5/28/03 @ 144 & reached 119 goal
    THEN BLEW IT!
    Starting over 02-07-05 @ 149
    06-01-05 = 127

i dont get it... as long as you keep below the 20 carb limit it should be fine right ?? so why arent the NUTS allowed ???
no cottage cheese no nuts, its difficult to get all the meat in a household thats completely vegeterian (except for eggs) and i get sick of eating eggs for breakfast and dinner as well.

Check the list of acceptable foods for induction. They are not on the list so that is why they are not allowed. It is not just keeping it under 20 carbs, its keeping it 20 carbs and eating only what is on the list. Very simple! :yes

It has to do with glycemic index. Not all carbs are equal. A big part of Atkins is controlling your blood sugar levels so as to prevent spikes, as well as the ketosis stuff. Certain types of carbs, notable those found in the items not allowed on induction, will effect your blood sugar much more rapidly than those found in vegetables. If you were to eat 20 grams of these carbs you would cause a blood sugar spike, knocking yourself out of ketosis, slowing, or stopping, your weight loss.

Induction is to get the ball rolling, and should be done correctly. It is only two weeks that you have to be super strict, anyone can handle that if they want it bad enough.

BTW - this is all covered in great detail in the book, if you don't have a copy, buy one very soon and read it thoroughly, you will not succeed without doing so.
