Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
Yikes! I went a little crazy with these...Made and ate 3 slices of cheese this way today at lunch. I'm not sure if I can practice moderation cause these are SO delicious and addictive!sigpic

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
I LOVE these!!! I make one big one with shredded cheddar on a large plate, micro for 2-3 minutes until crisp, remove from plate immediately or it will stick and just break pieces off as I eat it. My 14 year old son likes to eat them too. I go through alot of cheese in my house... Thank God for Aldi's!!!~Mary~

OOooo! That sounds good! I couldn't find the cheese that the recipe calls for, is regular Cheddar ok for this?

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
I don't think regular Cheddar would turn out the same. Did you look where they have sliced cheese in a square package - like Kraft Singles? Like in this link? Make sure to get the "Deluxe" kind. Don't get one that says cheese food or cheese product.
I've made these and then put sugar-free peanut butter between them (if you're on that rung). It's just like those packaged orange-colored crackers that have peanut butter in the middle, but they are legal! I used to love those.

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
I used regular medium cheddar and put in on parchment paper then put it in the oven on 400F for about 3-4 minutes and then put some popcorn seasoning on it and it was soooooooooooo good! Definatley found my alternative to chips!

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
What a GREAT idea! I am so new to this and I was (still am) struggling with what I can and cannot eat. I am in the first 14 right now. I love cheese so this works! Love that 'burnt cheese' taste. I am weird I know!

These are so awesome!! LOVE IT!! My new fav snack. I can't wait until the nut rung so I can dip them in Peanut Butter!
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
I cut three slices into 4 triangles each and then make a layered nacho dip with ground beef, onions & peppers, salsa, guac and sour cream. Then use the cheese chips as my tortilla chips for dipping. They can't sit in the dip but if you keep them on the side they work just fine. Don't dare make it often but it is soooo good when you need a tex mex treat.

Re: No joke...like a Cheez-It
Regular grated cheddar works fine -- my 4 and 6 year old also come running when I make these! I like to make big one, and then I just tear or break it apart (depending on how crunchy I make it). I think I'm going to make one right now!
