  • "Cinnamon Toast Crunch" - odd but good!

I came up with this while really craving cereal one evening, and playing around with different ideas. This is one of those recipes that may sound too wierd to even give it a shot, but if you love cereal try it!

    3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp water (optional but helps)
    1 packet Splenda
    1 handful pork rinds
    cinnamon powder

Pour the whipping cream, water, and Splenda into the bottom of a cereal bowl. Add several dashes of cinnamon, and stir. The cinnamon will remain kind of clumpy, but that's okay. Add the pork rinds a few at a time (I like to use the smaller bits that collect at the bottom of the bag for a more cereal-like effect, but you could always crush larger ones) and stir them as best you can until all rinds are covered with the cream mixture. It's IMPORTANT that the rinds get covered, the soggier the better. You'll be able to hear them snap, crackle, and pop at this point.

dig in with a spoon and enjoy!

    It's induction legal!
    1 serving = 3 carbs
Carbs will differ depending on what kind of cream and how much Splenda you use.

We stock Prairie Farms products and if your store carries them you can find it in a yellow carton, it will say Heavy Whipping Cream on it. This sounds good, I will have to give it a shot.

I think this may have just saved my diet

I'm having a pretty boring day - not much to do around the house - so naturally I keep walking back and forth to the kitchen. I decided to try this and it is awesome! It may have just kept me from cheating. YUM!!

                    Initially, my reaction was YUCK!

But I bought the ingredients last night, came home and made some, and I have to say it is VERY good. The trick is to just stir it until the rinds are all in the cream/cinnamon/splenda mixture.

Any naysayers who think from reading the recipe that it can't possibly taste okay - just TRY it! You will be pleasantly surprised!

Thinning the cream out with water will allow you to have even more of this stuff - and I admit I will be having more! :yes

                    Thanks for the recipe!

I bought pork rinds a while back to "bread" eggplant but they were so salty, they were gross. Am I buying the wrong kind? I would like to try your recipe but I am afraid of pork rinds after this!!!!!!!!!!

I always buy Baken-ets pork rinds, which are sold at Kroger, Randalls, and Wal-Mart (and I'm sure other places, too). I think most brands salt their pork rinds, and I'm not sure if you can find any unsalted.

However, I made this recipe with Baken-ets, which are salted, and it tasted fine.

                              Delicious!!!

I, like everyone else, was skeptical. The recipe simply didn't sound great. It tastes almost exactly like the cereal, though. I will definitely be having this again! :joy :icondance
