  • Alzheimers and Parkinson's

    Wow ..
I was surfing the web as today is a very NO-GO day .. and was surprised to read the info in these links....
I don't suppose there are many PD or Alzeihmer suffers here .... but some of you may have family members who are sick .....
I had not gone back to Atkins since I was diagnosed 12 months ago .. so I had never come across this type of information ...
Hope it can be of interest to some of you

    Re: Alzheimers and Parkinson's

thanks for sharing. I hope the parkensons info is more accurate then the AD info

Low carbing can help with many things but the problem with the AD info is it is based on old possible causes. the tangles are not the cause as brain autopsies of the nun's brains in Ky showed those without AD also had tangles in their brains. It is a very specific allel of the gene for those tangles that cause the actual protein being made to be a different isomer in AD folk then in non AD folk.

another factor is the AEOP4 gene does not occur in all AD folk and only those AD folk with the AEOP4 gene will respond to the low carb diet as a means to slow the advancement of their AD. it doesn't cure only slow.

And that agra vs hunter gather info is selectiviely picking the countries as India is agra based not hunter gather type and they have a much lower AD population then other countries leading some researches to focus on the spices they eat in large amounts as a possible reason like that in curry.

      Re: Alzheimers and Parkinson's

Thanks for your feedback 2Big .. I really do not know if it is accurate or not. To be honest there are conflicting ideas on every aspect of PD at present. Here in Italy, where they obviously INSIST on the Med Diet .. so pasta/rice etc etc .. they do not agree with what is stated in those links.
At the end of the day .. even the top experts on these diseases are pretty much still in the dark on so many aspects.

      have a good weekend
