Is it possible to develop candida simply from eating too much cheese? I am in LOVE with cheese and it is the one food that I really LOVE on this diet...I honestly don't know what I'd do without it! But even before atkins I'd say I ate around...5-6 oz of cheese a day. Now I eat around 4 (too much I know! I'm trying to cut back). I will do the spit test in the morning, but even before Atkins I did some reading about candida and suspected I might have it, as I have many of the symptoms. I always figured there was really nothing I could do to cure it except quit eating cheese, I didn't know there were any over the counter things to help with it. This is week 4 of stall for me, so I am really wondering if this could be the cause. Also, I heard that Doctors are not inclined to diagnose candida very often as it's symptoms are so similar to so many other things...that is kinda crappy : / if I have it I would want to get it professionally treated, but I guess it would be hard if a Dr. can't even diagnose it!

Re: question about cheese...
so I did the spit test and I'm not really sure of the results...my spit was all cloudy and funky looking since it was the "right when you roll out of bed" kind. And then it just kinda floated up top, and sorta started to sink...then I did another one with cleaner spit i guess...I mean after about 15 min when I was more awake...and this one has little legs...blah no more cheese for me I guess

I think eating lots of cheese could cause you to have problems with yeast/mold.
5-6 oz. of cheese is to much to be eating per day. But you already know this, from what I read in your post. Remember the limits and try to not go over it (3 to 4 oz).
Doctors can tell with tests (stool or blood) if you have an overgrowth of candida. Many doctors and others don't think us yeast sufferers have a legitimate problem. If they experienced it, they would think otherwise. My opinion!
If you are thinking that your problem is because of the scale has not moved for 4 weeks, please be patient. This is normal for you to hit a plateau. Your body will take timeout from losing, this is normal. then the weight will start coming off again, when your body has adjusted.
Do you have other yeast symptoms like bloating, rashes, coated tongue, mindfog, vaginal yeast infections, constipation, or diarreah, to name a few.
Have you taken measurements so you can keep track of your body shrinking in inches? The tape measure is a better way of keeping track of your progress. The scale will lie to you.
It could be that if you will eat unprocessed foods, meats, veggies, drink all your water, olive oil, you can jump start your weightloss again.
Some things that can cause stalls are artifical sweetners, frankenfoods, if you are using any of these foods, cut them out and see if you start losing again.
We are all our own science project and we have to figure what works for ourselves.
If you think you have yeast overgrowth there are suppliments you can take and you will need to eat the KISS way. Check out the sticky notes and you will find the KISS diet.
I think I answered your questions, but if I missed something, let me know.
There is help out there if you have a yeast problem. We are here to help.
Happy Low carbing!
