  • Brain Fog

I posted this in the ext. induction already but then thought this might be a better place.

I know that some people get brain fog around here. But isn't it usually in the beginning of Atkins? I have been on for 2 months and it is getting worse. I am controlling the yeast right now so that should not be the problem. I am forgetting things, losing things left and right. My husband is telling me to seriously see a doctor. He thinks is coincides with me doing Atkins, which whether or not that is the case, it has. I am actually a little scared at how bad it has been. I am 36 years old and have always been a little forgetful. I used to joke about getting early Alzheimers but now I am seriously a little nervous and my husband is worried.

Has anyone else experienced this brain fog this severe and for this long??

    Re: Brain Fog

I have been doing low carb for 6 full weeks, now.......................what was I talking about?!?!?!?!?!?? Seriously, I have not experienced any more brain fog thatn normally. Although, I might not be the best to respond. When I was in high school my classmates gave me a button that said "Save The Airheads".

      Re: Brain Fog

I realized that my last post might have sounded uncaring, so I am responding again. I would not worry about it yet. You are probably just adding so much to your normal full schedule that some things are forgotten. Hey, we carry so much of the load, its a wonder we all remember to do anything!!!!! I would watch it and make sure that you are getting enough vitamins and protein for your brain. You are probably fine.

        Re: Brain Fog

I sound just like you, but I am better since starting this WOE. I always have been nervous about having early Alzheimers. I am actually starting to feel clear headed. My husband hasn't made any remarks lately about me telling him something for the second or third time. When I have my eating under control, it seems like I have everything else in my life more in control. Does that make sense? I would just keep taking your vitamins and eating right. If it keeps bothering you I would suggest seeing the doctor to get some blood work done. Just check to see if everything is where it should be. I did feel quite tired when I started treating the yeast, but that is getting better too. I hope you get the brain fog cleared up soon. Take care!

          Re: Brain Fog

My brainfog was worse when I first started treating my yeast problem. I think it was made worse by the yeast dieoff. It took a couple of months before I could tell that I was thinking more clearly. This is my experience.

If you and your DH are really scared, do go and consult with your Dr. Let us know what you do about this situation.

            Re: Brain Fog

Thanks for the advice. I have never taken a multi-vitamin on a regular basis so I think I am going to start. Give it a week or so and see if there is any change. If not, I am going to go to the doctor and have some blood work done.

              Re: Brain Fog

I notice that if I miss a day or 2 taking my supplements, I get terrible brain fog. I do better when I take them regularly. Check the DANDR and make sure you are taking everything that you need. Then, like Becky Sue said, if you and your husband are still concerned, go see a doctor to make sure it's not something else. Good luck!
