  • Will atibiotics cause any problems?

I was just put on an antibiotic for a throat and sinus infection. Will this cause problems with treating the yeast? I will be on it for 10 days.

Well, I've gained a few pounds already. I also started TOM which is not at the right time at all. Hopefully these pounds will fall off after I am done with the antibiotic and TOM. My husband has lost 10 pounds from being sick and I gain.

well yes it will because it will kill the healthy bacteria that populate our intestines and do benificial stuff for us. With out them there to occupy space and alter the enviornmet to an unfriendly one for the yeasties they will go wild again soooooooo you want ot be sure you are tasking your probiotics but not at the same meal you swaloow your antibiotics at and possible if you are not already doing so up your anti fungal supplements or meds depending on which way you are treating yours.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks 2big. I have been taking my probiotics, but I took them at the same time as my antibiotic. I will make sure that I take them in the afternoon from now on. I have to take the antibiotic twice a day. I am doing the KISS diet again to gain control of the yeasties. It is so upsetting to see the scale go up.

Well now I'm up to 216. I'm getting really frustrated. I still have a few more days on the antibiotics. Is this fluid retention that I'm experiencing resulting from the yeast growing in my system? I am trying to drink alot of water for the next few days and see if it clears out.

            Momtofour,
Try to not get discouraged. There are times we have to take antibiotics and it does set us back. When we have the yeast overgrowth it can cause our metabolism to slow down. so do like 2Big suggested. Take your probotics, I mean up the amount. Take you antifungal, but not at the same time as the probotics. Eat the KISS way.
Drink all your water, can't hurt to up it too.
As soon as you are finished taking you antibiotics, then you will get back on track. This is just another bump in the road.
I hate to admit but there have been quite a few bumps in my road these past 2 years of eating Low carb. But I will get there when it is my time. So will you.
            HUGS!!!

Thank you Becky! I know I shouldn't be discouraged because I know the antibiotics are to blame, but it's hard. My husband and I are going on a white water rafting trip next week and I so wanted to be close to 200 when we went. I was losing so great for awhile and I got excited thinking I just might get there. I know it's not a race and I need to relax about it. I'm feeling good enough to go mow the lawn, maybe the excercise will help.

I didn't know that. Thank you, Thank you , Thank you. I knew I was retaining water by how I felt and my rings aren't falling off my fingers like they were. I am praying for that big whooshie. I saw the number 212 the day I started taking the antibiotics and I am up to 215 right now. It is such a relief to think that I might see that number again.

I got up to 217 while taking the antibiotics. I took the last pill today and I am also back down to 213. The great news is that I didn't get a vaginal yeast infection from the antibiotics. Usually they go hand in hand. I will be back on my Candex today. I noticed that the probiotics I was taking has 1g of sugar. Why????? If you're taking probiotics to repopulate the good yeast why would they put sugar in it to feed the bad yeast. I'm going to get something different today. BTW, it was made by Rexall (extra strength probiotics). I guess I better make sure I read everything. I would have never thought that it would have sugar in it.

My dh says tablets have "fillers" to slow down the absorbtion rate and prevent side effects.

                          momtofour,

sounds like you have made it thru the antibiotics in pretty good shape. I am happy for you.

We all need to get into a habit to read all the labels we buy. Here is one that I was surprised about, read the labels on table salt. I noticed mine had sugar in it. I had to read lots of labels to find just regular salt that didn't have sugar in it.

WOO HOO!! You dropped the extra 4 pounds. You are on your way.

                            Becky Sue,

I ran right up to check my salt after I read your post. Mine doesn't have sugar in it. Thank Goodness! That's all I need, when I'm trying to be so diligent. I am back down to 213, but haven't lost any more. I did lose inches though. I am now in my smallest clothes that I own. I have to do some major shopping in the fall. Even my winter coat is ridiculously big. Yeah!!

Good for you back down to 213. Keep doing what you are doing and you will see results , the best kind!!!

I just remembered I had started using morton lite salt because it has potassium in it. My legs have been cramping, so I decided to try this. I already had the lite salt.
Well..... guess what it has sugar in it. I just went and checked!!!
                              Ingredients
salt, potassium chloride, calcium silicate, magnesium carbonate, dextrose, potassium iodine.
So I was helping my legs I thought and eating sugar because I didn't read the label.
So beware of Mortons lite salt!!! Sugar in it!!!
