  • Cleared up yeast and bloating and losing weight!!!!

Through all this my DH and I have been through we found out we had a yeast growth...Dr Atkins says a huge majority of people do without knowing. Well, we haven't had dairy and taking oil of oregano capsules and apple cider vinegar(the unfiltered, raw, organic type) ( we pour 1-2 TEAS in a glass with a little bit of water 2-3X a day) and both of us have lost 7 pounds. Talk about the WHOOSH fairy....she came BIG time!!! HA HA!!! :yes Not only that NO MORE BLOATING!!!! YIPPEE!!! Just thought I would share.

Woo hoo Missy I just ask about this in your other topic

DebbietheHugBug read your DANDR in chapter 20 Dr Atkins discusses yeast. If you have a yeast or candida infestation then those steps will help you cure it and it will stop interferring with your Atkins WOL and turn a very slow loser into for them a race horse. Becky Sue has several posts up with the links for the Atkins Kiss program dealing with this. If you don't have a yeast problem it will not effect your losing.

First off, first thing in the morning before you eat or drink, spit into a clear glass of water....keep checking every few minutes to see if yur saliva becomes cloudy or starts forming legs to the bottom of the glass. if it does you have yeast in your body. If it stays clear and floats on top of the water you are yeast free. Well, our saliva was definitely yeast positve. We immediately stopped all COW products and foods containing yeast such as mushrooms, vinegar, soy sauce and a few more are mentioned under "yeast" in the Atkins book. There is a lot of info in the book. I think he states that about 80% of people have it and don't realize they do. We also supplemented (after further investigating)with Oil of Oregano capsules and some Raw, Organic, unfiltered vinegar, 2 teaspoons in a small glass of water 3-4 times a day and digestive enzymes and garlic(4 capsules a day) and drink detox tea by Yogi tea three times a day. Well, needless to say the results are amazing!!! Flat stomach, NO BLOATING and an incredible FAST weight loss. :icondance What a STALL BUSTER!!!!!
      Hope this helps.

I don't have any symptoms of yeast overload, yet I've always been a slow loser so I'm going to try the "spit in the glass" test. But, I have a couple of questions for you:

I've read DANDR about yeast and I'm still not clear, once the candida overgrowth clears up are you allowed to eat any of the products that contain yeast again or do you have to permanently give them up?

Second question is when you talk about taking the Apple Cider Vinegar are you doing that in capsule form or are you using it in your foods? I thought Vinegar was on the yeast no-no list. I have raw unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar that I use on salads with Olive oil. Can I continue to do so?

          Thanks!!!

I also did the "spit" test and found I have a yeast overgrowth. Thanks for all the info I have obtained here. I am off to the health store tomorrow to get the items that were recommended. It's gonna be tough giving up dairy products, but hey, before I started this WOE I thought giving up carbs was going to be rough and I survived. Please keep us posted on your progress. I am very curious to see how this all turns out.

The raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar is healthy for you, you can go ahead and take that one. I take the liquid. Also I found this over the internet. http://www.newlifevitamins.com/

              Hope this helps!!

As your symptoms disappear, you can cautiously add back the forbidden foods, one at a time and slowly. Do not eat any refined sugars for at least 6 months after your recovery. Having candidiasis once predisposes one to getting it again so be very careful after you are well. Indulging in too many foods too quickly can, as I can painfully attest to, cause a relapse

                      Missy thank you
I hadn't gotten to that chapter yet but have been dealing with some problems that just keep coming back. Of course the Dr. prescribed creams but of course the problems keep getting worse.

Looking at my food diary I noted when I didn't have this problem for awhle then it came back in full force. At that time I was eating eggs, cheese, and cream in the quiche.

Taaa Daaaa it all makes sense now. :nod
And the spit test this morning confirmed it.
Thank you...now I am a happy camper....now that I know how to prevent this problem.

Missy, did you experience any cramping from the die off of the candida yeast cells? I hear that can be a real problem. Let us know, thanks!!

A frien on another site was a septic too and had her whole family do the spit test her son that had many of the symptoms she did tested positive to her rail skinny symptom free child didn't.

If you still doubt it you can pay ofr the test at your docs they use a stool sample.
