Today is Monday Dec. 6th. It's been a week and 2 days and I'm maintaining my 152 weight (5 pound loss). I'm not expecting the rest of drop as fast... but it was exciting to see the scale drop the way it did.

I still have legs in my spit, and I still get post nasal drip, so we'll see if there's something more to eliminate that I'm eating.

I've started reading The Yeast Connection... which is supposed to be what DANDR is to Atkins. It seems that alot of the foods that you eliminate don't need to be eliminated for long periods fo time unless you actually have an allergy to yeast, which most people do not have. For those following a candida free diet, you may want to pickup a copy of the book. I've only just started jumping through it at this point and have not read the whole thing yet, but I'm learning stuff I never would have thought about. It may be alot easier then we thought to clear up yeast (diet wise), but it still takes some discipline.

I'll let you know more as I read it through. So far, it's saying that after the first 2 weeks of being strict, you can "test yourself" with yeast containing foods because most people don't have a problem eating most strains of yeast.... they have a problem with "feeding" the bad yeast. (sugar/white flour). Even the yeast connection kinda preaches a low-carb diet.... and it was originally written in the 70's.

I'll be trying hard to avoid all "personal internet" until I get a bunch of important stuff done... but I'll be checking in evening time. (just not hanging around all day)

    C'ya later.

      Hi Skinnysoon,
Looks like you are doing great. Congrats to you :hug I know you said you are busy and don't have a lot of time, but could you post a day or two of typical menus you eat. I just started this diet today to kill the yeasty beasties and am having a hard time coming up with things to eat. I just cut out probably 80% of what I usually eat. It would really help... Thanks in advance.

I'm on OWL.... so I'm not sure if you can eat the same as me.

I'll check my fitday and post a couple days when I get a chance.

I'm mainly eating chicken, salmon and eggs with different veggies, and lots of almonds and herbal tea.

Today was a little odd (eating wise).... but I'll share my menu here, and whatever I eat the next few days, which is usually similiar anyways because I cook in bulk. I know you're not supposed to eat leftovers on a candida diet... but it's not possible with my lifestyle. I have to cook in bulk and seperate my food in portions, or I'll go nuts.

            Meal 1
            Protein Shake (whey protein)
            Almond Butter (in shake)

            Meal 2
Prime Rib (leftover from yesterday's lunch out)
Organic Unsweetened Applesauce (Extremely rare choice for me... and now that I think about it, I shouldn't have eaten it (no fruit on candida diet). I was thinking about trying to get some simple sugars in after my workout and forgot that it was a fruit...DUH)

Decaf Herbal Tea: Pau D' Arco

            Meal 3
            Yogurt
            Milled Flax Seeds

            Decaf Herbal Tea: Detox Blend

            Meal 4
            Chicken Breast
            Zucchini
            Coconut Oil (on zucchini)

Meal 5... not eaten yet, but planned out in Fitday because I didn't eat enough calories today)
            Mixed Baby Greens
            Homemade Salad Dressing
(made with raw organic apple cider vinegar, liquid amino acids....healthy soy alternative, walnut oil, garlic, and a blend of miscellaneous spices)

I also drank 1 full 2.2 liter bottle of water... and expect to drink atleast another 1/2 to 1 more bottle before I go to bed.

I'm running out of the dressing I made, so I will make another batch, using flaxseed oil instead of the walnut for extra EFA's.

I'll post the next few days menu too. Expect to see alot of chicken breasts, almond butter, flaxseeds, steel cut oats, spelt bread and zucchini until I eat through my last bulk-cook... then my veggie will change. I bought a bunch of eggs... but I haven't been eating them too often because I hate making dishes. (hence the reason I bulk cook) I need to start cooking them before they go bad.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. :hug I REALLY appreciate this. Do you make the spelt bread? That sounds interesting... I need to start mixing it up, I had eggs twice yesterday, but I have not really been able to shop for the things I need. I will be doing that tomorrow. I am also going to start my own candida diet journal in the journal section. And thanks for taking the time to do this!!!! And congrats on your weightloss :joy

Thanks. I seem to have stopped losing for the moment... just fluctuating between 152 and 152.5 over the last few days, but I'm not worried. I'm sure I'll start losing again soon. I'm thinking about cutting out the grains for a couple weeks to see what happens... but I'd like to finish my loaf of bread first so I don't waste it. (or I might just toss it in the freezer).

No problem.... I do what I can to help.

I buy the Spelt bread at Trader Joes. They also sell Kamut bread made the same way..... (just kamut, water and salt). I haven't tried the Kamut yet because I want to eat through the Spelt first. It's got to thick texture... and doesn't soak up as much of whatever you put on it, so it keeps a nice layer of butter, coconut oil, etc... right on top. I like that.. because you can use alot less, but still get all the flavor.

I'm not sure how easy it is to make... because the label says something about kneading it for 12 hours, so I'd rather buy it. The company doesn't use any sugar, yeast, wheat, eggs, etc.... because they want to market their products to people with all sorts of food allergies.

I'll start my meals here for today... and edit later to add to it. It will be easier to do it at the endof the day after I've eaten all of my meals.

                Meal 1
                3 jumbo eggs
1.5 oz red onion in eggs
                spray pam/oil
                1 slice spelt bread
1 teas coconut oil on bread

You might be able to get it mail order. The brand I'm eating is Pacific Bakery. If not, there's got to be a natural foods health store around you somewhere.

Are you eating soy yogurt? Just curious...I'm assuming you are.

Looking at another thread I noticed whey protein was mentioned...I've been drinking that everyday during my cleanse with no problems...I know everyone is different. I've been doing the cleanse now for close to a month and feeling great....clothes loose and lots of energy. I'm noticing; however; that my sinus are clogged in the mornings; which I NEVER have, so I'm sure my body is cleansing through my bronchial tubes and lungs and sinus. Also last night i was SO tired it was all I could do to drag off to bed....that is very unlike me too....so I know this cleanse is working!! Out of every negetive comes a positive!! :yes GLAD to get rid of that MESS!!!

                          Take care,

Actually, no. I'm eating plain organic nonfat yogurt. (I'd rather eat other things to add to my fat intake). There are lots of active cultures in it that are supposed to help with a yeast problem. I have read on several sites that say that yogurt is okay for a cleanse.... but most other dairy is not.

I also have been having mucus issues lately. I have been waking up with post nasal drip and dry, itchy, red eyes almost everyday since starting my cleanse. I thought it was due to being allergic to my cats... which I sleep with every night. Before starting my cleanse, I even woke myself up with an asthma-like coughing fit a few times... so I changed my bedding and started using a throw blanket over my pillows during the day to limit the cat hair.

No more coughing fits.... but I have been waking up with dry, red, itchy eyes and post nasal drip. No other mucus problems though... and not really very "stuffy" at all.

I'm not sure if it's related to my cats or to the candida cleansing. I tried drinking some lemon water in the mornign to clear up the mucus, and it seems to work a bit, but not completely.

I'm also a big "leftover" eater... so I know that will slow down my cleanse. I have no choice but to cook in bulk and eat leftovers.

BTW... I have a Living Air machine, so my breathing air should be fairly clean.

NEWS: Although I'm still 152 as of this morning, during my scale dance today, I saw 151.5 a few times, so I think I might be on my way to dropping a little more soon.

Actually, I think they did start before the cleanse.... but I can't imagine coming down with worsened allergies BEFORE doing a cleansing diet... except for the fact that my cat has been sick, and sleeping closer to my face every night, instead of further down at chest level. It helps keep the other cats from bothering her at night when she's vulnerable.... but I think it makes my symptoms worse.
