I have been using it.... but not religiously. I use it as a healthier alternative to butter on my veggies, or sometimes right off the spoon when I'm low on fat intake (before I bought my flaxseed oil).

If you are following a candida cleansing diet and taking a pro-biotic along with the coconut oil, you shoudl start to see some results after 3-5 days. Personally, I recommend taking Oil of Oregano as an anti-fungal/candida product. It is alot stronger then most other products available in killing off yeast.

I use coconut oil more of a supplement... not as an anti-fungal/candida product.

I did try the oil of oreganoa nd didn't have any results I have had more of a die off reaction since taking the coconut oil. I guess what works for one may not work for another. I have not lost any weight as of yetbut have lost 3 inches all over in the last week and a half so that has to be good. Hopefully I will start to see the scale move soon. I am doing the Body For Life Challenge started today.

        Thanks for the replies

Are you also following an anti-candida diet?????

... and did you follow the diet when you took the oil of oregano?? If not, you could have created the "feed it while you're trying to kill it" scenario that can make your yeasties build up an immunity to the anti-fungal you are using to try to kill them with.

I followed the candida diet for 3 month to a tee and I have to say I have had more results with the Coconut oil. This is not just a slight problem I have been battling this my entire life. I was placed in Hospital not expected to servive when I was 5 years old. I had sever thrush it was in all my orafaces and it plagued my entire digestive symptoms. To this day my doctor still has never seen anyone whith a candida infection as bad as the one I had. I couldn't eat, or go to the bathroom. I was extremely sick. The doctors finally got the yeast under control but,I began gaining a lot of weight which I know now is from the yeast. I have actually cleared it up once before I got pregnant. Now with 3 pregnancies behind me hy body is full again. It's not because I take antibiotics or bitrth control. It's because of my body chemistry, and pregnancy hormones.
It took 6 months to get the candida under control last time so I can imagine about the same. I find that it is really hard to follow the diet that long. I get really bored and then all **** breakes loose. It's not something I can do forever. I love cheese and coffee and the occasional low carb treat that isn't asking too much. I think I am going to take this one day at a time and pray this works this time. I will probably alternate the oregano oil and the Coconut oil in 2 week increments so my body doesn't get too used to one or the other.

Thanks any more advise would be great.

Wow... it sounds like you're been through a very severe case. I hate to rai on your parade, but I've read that for some people, they will never be able to add those foods back into their diet....even after they've done everything they can to kill of the overgrowth. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you do not fall into that catagory.

I've also read that although you may have to stick with an anti-candida diet fo the rest of you life, you might be able to eat yeast/mold "containing" foods.... but not the foods that actually "feed" the yeast. Pick up a copy of "The Yeast Connection" for more info on this. Basically, there's many different kinds of yeast, and they all behave differently. Unless you're actually "allergic" to ALL yeast, then you should be able to add things like coffee and cheese back into your diet again eventually.

As severe as your problems can get, I'd definately do alot of research into it. Good luck... and let us know what happens. I'm reading TYC right now, and I'm learning alot of interesting stuff. I think it would be an essential book for you.

It's not unusual for women to get yeast infections during pregnancy. I got it twice.

As for when to expect losing weight, within the first week. If you know that your candida is dying off, then you should expect to see some results soon. I noticed that I started losing again as soon as the die-off symptoms started. This was about my 3rd day into the diet.

Are you taking your coconut oil in pill form? I used extra virgin coconut oil to cook my foods. Sometimes I even put it into my salads to give it a bit of a tropical nutty flavor. I also used EVOO at times during the candida diet phase. Since coconut oil is known for it's yeast targeting properties, it's the best oil to use during the candida diet.

Also, how are you seasoning your foods? Make sure to avoid the dried spices and try to stick with salt and pepper only. If you like garlic, then crush some fresh garlic. Are you eating leftovers? Try to avoid this, since refridgerating does not guarantee that your food will not start spoiling.

Could you post a usual days menu for 1) during the time you followed the candida diet to a "tee" and 2) for now? Maybe we can find something in there that is causing you to still retain the weight.

I had some pretty severe die off today so I prdict that this is working I actually felt like throwing up off and on today so I had a really hot bath and that helped. I have been drinking a ton of water.

This is my usual menu as of the last 4 weeks.

Breakfast Eggs cooked in coconut oil or a Home made shake made with water 2 eggs and some pure vanilla extract. I do add a touch of cream I know this is not allowed but when I am in a hurry it helps especially with 3 little ones.

Lunch Large salad 2 cups with home made salad dressing made with lemon instead of vinegar. Sometimes I will melt the coconut oil and add some sald and fresh pressed garlic. I have used dried spices. I didn't realize I shouldn't

Supper Pork, chicken, steak, fish grilled with celery and a cup of salad. I sometimes have a cup of beans with this as well. I use the coconut oil on the beans.

This is basically whet I eat day in day out BORING. This is also what I ate before except I took oregano oil under my tongue 3 times per day 3 drops. This was recommended by a herbalist.

I do drink a bit of decaffinated coffee and water but that is it. I had some caffeine free diet coke when I had my TOM so I woulddn't cave. Didi well though and have been cheat free for 31 days as of today.

I have lost 13 pounds so hopefully I will begin to see a change in the scale here with the coconut oil. I also have low Thyroid function so this is supposed to help at least I hope so.

                  Thanks all

coffee has mold in it... not allowed during candida cleansing

cream is dairy... not allowed, but it's very low lactose

vanilla extract... not allowed, has alcohol in it.... but i use a little here and there too.

diet coke has aspertame in it.... no artificial sweetners allowed

It can be something very little... like these couple of items that could be stopping you. Even sugarfree gum can be the culprit. (if you chew it)

I thought I read somewhere that aspartame is the best artificial sweetener when you are fighting a candida overgrowth. Something about the yeast is unable to use it like it can splenda and saccharin. May have to do some more research on that. I'm not an expert on the anti-candida diet.

The only artificial sweetner that I have found is acceptable is stevia...which is a natural sweetner made of the stevia plant.

SkinnySoon summed it up pretty well. Information on what can be eaten or not varies from source to source. Your judgement plays a key role on alot of contradictions, so if you doubt it, out with it!

Decaf coffee is one thing that is contradicted. I personally gave it up and switched to decaf, non-fermented green tea. I also kept the tea bags in the box in my freezer to absolutely avoid any mold from growing on it.

Yes, this diet can definitely get boring for most people. It did for me at one point or another, but I was focused on seeing results and that was more important to me than consuming something that would avoid progress.

As for the aspartame, it's best to avoid it altogether. Stevia is the most natural and safest sweetener to use during the CD. I only use the liquid form, since the powdered forms of any sweeteners are usually made with maltodextrin and dextrose to stabilize the sweetener and give it a more solid form. Also, aspartame is not a whole food or the extract of a food.

Also, just adding a "little bit" of something even though it is not allowed on during the CD can make a big difference. It could be that little bit that is keeping you from experiencing the benefits of doing this WOE. Since you already have a history of candida in your system and since it is such a severe overgrowth, it is best for you to avoid all non-whole foods. Try it for a few days, see what happens and make your judgement from there.

Most stevia powders ARE made with fillers.... but there are many brands that are PURE stevia powder with nothing added or removed. That's what I purchase for cooking because the liquid stevia doesn't sweeten well when heated. I use liquid stevia in cold drinks only.

Pure stevia powder should measure at 1/32 of a teaspoon to equal 1 teaspoon of sugar sweetness.

It seems that some of the stuff I'm eating is contra-indicated by one website or another. I think I might try going a little stricter for a couple weeks too.

Chynna.... do you use any extracts??? Would artificial vanilla extract be better then pure since it shouldn't have an alcohol base??

I am going to cut out the cream for a few days and see what happens. As for the diet coke I had 1 500ml bottle when I was having my TOM and I really don't think that would effect me all that much. Now if I was drinking it every day that would be different. I am gunna drink some lemon tea instead of decaff. I was a coffee finatic and switching to decaff was hard I'll probably be really sad. It's like a comfort for me. I sit and relax with my cupof decaff and unwind from the day. I have 3 children and I operate a day home and have 2 other children that keep me busy till 9 at night. I know coffee seems like such a little thing to me it's big. I already gave up my nuts that was extremely hard I still want them and now coffee. This sucks. I read somewhere that decaff was of on a cleanse was the clease wrong. There are so many clashing clensing diets one says one thing the other another thing. My head is spinning. I know form past experience if I say on this woe for 6 months my candida is basically in check but, I want to speed things up a bit.

Well gotta kids are a screaming
