  • Sugar cravings!

Does anyone have bad sugar cravings while trying to kill the yeast?? I'm having bad cravings! I had the s/f candy today, and I hope that hasn't ruined things. I'm on day 2 of induction (again) and it's so hard trying to kill off the yeast. When I did indulge because of the bad cravings I felt huge and bloated the next day, and was actually sick for a couple of days. I know it's the yeast, and I have to get rid of it. But, I also need sweets or I'll binge. Any suggestions? Is splenda ok? What about cream cheese (Dr. A says it's ok, but I don't know) What are you all eatting??? THANKS!

I did the candida diet and don't have a problem with that anymore.

You shouldn't be consuming sweeteners due to the bulking agents in it. Liquid stevia is allowed on CAD and is also all natural (make sure to get one without alcohol in it).

As for cream cheese, as well as all dairy, these can feed your yeast and therefore your efforts to kill it off will take longer or be unsuccessful.

The reason why you crave the sugar is because the yeast needs it to survive. These cravings pass in time, but it is important that you do not give into them, since all your efforts will be lost. You feel bloated afterwards because of the chemical reaction of the yeast "feeding" and multiplying.

There really isn't any "sweet" food that is allowed during CAD. Your best bet is to get some L-Glutamine and take 5g whenever you have a craving. I also found that taking 1000mcg of chromium picolinate helps to surpress cravings.

Thanks everyone! I can't believe how bad the cravings are. I have the L-glutamine and will try taking that next time. I will also stay away from the cream cheese. How long does it take to get rid of the yeast? Thanks!

You should stick with CAD for at least 6 weeks and continue avoiding refined sugars for the following 6 months.
