  • Round 2

Okay, so I battled w/ Candida after my son was born, and then never had a problem again. Well, I have a feeling they are back. I just had my daughter 3 1/2 months ago and the ONLY time I ever have antibiotics was when I had them b/c I had to have c-sections w/ both..and I have a Mitral Valve Prolapse..so they loaded me up both times.

I have been back on Atkins for a month and 2 weeks and I am losing slower this go round. I am currently taking Birthcontrol...so I know this could be b/c of that...the blaoting included....but I want to ask a few questions now.

    1) Could BC cause Candida, or at least add to it??
    2) I used to take a probiotic, OoO, and ACV. I do have an allergy to ACV so I sannot do that. I know garlic and OoO will both kill all the bacteria and then the Acidopholis will repopular w/ the good bacteria. Will Just the Acidopholis and OoO be enough?? How much should I take?? And I cannot take them together, right??

I am taking the spit test tomorrow so we will see how that goes. I do not eat cheese b/c it slows my weight loss but I have been eating about 1 cup of mushrooms a day....when I hardly ate them before Atkins.

If my spit test is negative and I don't have a yeast overgrowth, is it possible I have an allergy to mushrooms?? I am just very unhappy, very bloated...and ready to do what I have to do.

    Thanks in advanced!!

    Re: Round 2

Hi Js, sorry to hear of your troubles with candida. It can be easier for some people to be rid of it than others.
I have read that bc pills can make it more difficult to clean up. I'm on Yasmin, and I can't quit it right now because it suppresses my endometriosis.
Theory has it that the anti fungals will also kill off the good bacteria, so probiotics should be taken with antifungals. I've tried cycling them by using different antifungals rotated every five days for 6 weeks, then hitting the probiotics. There are a lot of antifungals out there, I personally like the caprilic acid. I've been doing this occasionally for the last 12 years, positive results are temporary.
I don't believe that eating mushrooms feeds yeast just because they are a fungi themselves. I believe that sugar and stahrcy carbs feed yeast. We don't eat sugar because we are trying to starve the yeast while fighting it with antifungals.
After 12 years of this, the only success I've really had was taking digestive enzymes. I've accepted that something in my digestion is out of whack, which is why I was suppceptable to overgrowth, and I've never really been able to shake it long term. The enzymes seem to change my gut so I can keep things in check. I will probably have to be on them for life, but that's better than dealing with yeast overgrowth.

BTW, I don't believe in the spit test. I think you are better off getting bloodwork done and look for the yeast in your bloodstream. A doctor or homeopath can do this.
I hope you have better luck with candida than I did.
