  • GRRRR! Vinegar is in all the foods I love!

I'm feeling really limited by my choices with doing the yeast diet in conjunction with atkins. Everything has either yeast, sugar, or vinegar in it!

I just made a dip consisting of 2 oz of cream cheese (which the DANDR says is legal for the yeast diet) a dash of spicy brown mustard, (yes I know it has some vinegar in it but I used very little) a dash of minced garlic and a sprinkle of real bacon pieces. I'm going to eat it with some plain pork rinds in order to get my fat intake up today. I ate very little yesterday just eggs and vegetables. i was soooo busy.

You can make your own mayonnaise if you want to avoid vinegar. However, vinegar is one of those food that has differing opinions. From what I understand, vinegar does not feed the yeast; but rather it has anti-bacterial properties that could possibly render your probiotics useless or less effective. Vinegar can often mimic yeast symptoms in the body. I eat vinegar on occasion (I have salad dressing with organic apple cider vinegar, and I use mayo from time to time) and have had no problems with it.

Most sites/experts agree that organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar is OK and in fact, even ENCOURAGED in an anti-candida plan. (Unless you're on the Gold Standard, which is uber-strict.)

For fat, eat butter and olive oil. Get good quality olive oil, get flavored oils. I cook my meats in olive oil, and put OO or butter on all of my veggies. Eat fattier meats, like pork and beef.

Oh, Annie's Naturals makes an organic mustard that contains organic apple cider vinegar, which is "legal".

How would fake vinegar made with a bottle of wine left open to the air be? It wouldn't have the "madre", so might be better.

Re: GRRRR! Vinegar is in all the foods I love!

Balsamic vinegar has sugar. Everything I have read points to the fermentation process as to why vinegar grows yeast. A bottle of wine left to turn to vinegar would still be fermented.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
