  • Me again, with questions on food!

I've read conflicting info on allowable foods:

    1. Lemon? Can I squeeze lemon juice on stuff (please say yes, we have a lemon tree and I use lemon on everything!)

    2. Salt? Sea salt is better?

    3. Tomatoes??

    4. Olive oil? I'm allergic to coconut, so coconut oil is out. Clarified butter?

    5. The website with very extensive listings stated some dried herbs are okay, but not all, can I follow that guideline? (www.mwilliamson.com/yeastdiet.htm)

    6. Somewhere I read mozarella cheese and cream cheese are allowed? Is this true or was I hallucinating?

    7. No nuts? or are raw almonds allowed?

    8. What do people eat for breakfast?? Eggs and ++ ??

    9. Tea? I've read that green tea is okay. But I'm thinking that might not be right.

The rest I think I get:
No fermented foods, incl. vinegar, dressings, pickles, soy sauce, etc.
    No cheeses (poss. exceptions above)
No other dairy (poss. clarified butter)
No moldy foods : mushrooms, nuts, etc
No processed foods ... YIKES, that means everything in the grocery store! :yikes

I could use some menu suggestions :nod ... please!!
Thanks again, you all are great!

okay I can tell you the reasoning behind those rules and you can decide for yourself if you want to risk using them.

the dairy is because the bad intestinal bacteria you are trying to kill candida love the sugar lactose in the dairy so out goes dairy. you can clarify your butter to pure fat by skimming off the white sloids that float when it is melted that is the milk proteins and some of the whey containing the lactose. Also during the aging of cheeses mold contamination occurs you have all seen moldy green looking cheese in the fridge. Cream cheese is a fresh unaged cheese so some folk feel it is okay again you will have to test it on your intestinal bacteria.

the herbs and spices has to do with the possible mold contamination during the processing you can wash your fresh herbs and use them.

nuts are notorius for being contaminated wioth molds but some nuts have less chance then others of being contaninated again this is a are you willing to test your batch of nuts oin your intestines to see if they were or not.

    hope that helps

Oh and once you finish your 14 day clean out you do like OWL in Atkins re introduce foods to see if you can handle them so you could re introduce your dairy once you got the good stuff occupying all the living space and have no troubles same with the washed fruits veggies herbs and vinegars.

      Hi Shedding Pounds,

I'll share what I've been doing for meals---pretty much the same thing everyday but I'm one of those strange folks that doesn't get food-boredom.

Today; eggs cooked in oil; turkey leg, pumpkin with splenda, and broccoli for lunch, turkey and broccoli for dinner. One night this past week I fixed shrimp sampi (shrimp, oil, garlic). Dinner is the one meal that I have to *think* about since I need to include some carbs for my kids, and still have a couple items for me to put on my plate.

Often times this past week I had eggs for breakfast, hamburger with a salad-used olive oil for the dressing, and some fresh meat item with veges for dinner.

Today after skating I snacked on blueberries and water.

Let us know how the progress goes!

      Carole
