  • food - meal ideas please!

My creativity regarding food is sorely lacking; can anyone give me an idea how they stay w/in acceptable limits and still make a variety of foods?

Breakfast is 2 eggs with salsa, shreds of spinach and a bit of steak, salmon, etc. ... omlete style

Lunch is pretty much a salad (lettuce or spinach) with vegies and a chicken breast.

Dinner is sm. salad, vegie (steamed broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), and steak, chicken, pork loin or salmon. It's all starting to taste the same~
and I haven't even gotten thru a whole week!
Ahhh to be called a 'LOSER'!!

The main thing I remember is to not eat processed foods. to starve the yeast out of my system.

I eat a bunch of raw veggies. Like peppers, all kinds, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, to name a few. All the induction veggies listed in the book. I do try to eat toss salad everyday. Of course I eat a bunch of cooked veggies too, I season them with meat drippings and / or olive oil.

I eat all sorts of meat, steak, chicken, pork, fish all fried, baked or charcoaled. I also order from my butcher fresh side pork( it is bacon that is not processed) I love to eat this and I save the grease and season my veggies with it. Sometimes I fry my eggs in this grease too. Very good taste.

I am lucky to not get bored with what I am eating. I guess because I feel so good eating this way. everything tastes so good.

I use my slow cooker and my geo forman grill, it makes cooking very simple and I like preparing my foods to be simple and easy. :yes

The only thing I drink is water and lots of it.
I hope this gives you some ideas.

thanks! I did fresh salmon the other night from one of the websites listed here (the one w/ info on KISS diet) - it was to die for! And simple simple simple! We always grill our salmon, sometimes in foil with lemon and butter (yum) but this beat it and only took 15 minutes!

That's the stuff I'm looking for... I'm going to try the 'side pork'? I really miss bacon.

I think I've missed something here? I did Atkins about 2 years ago with great success but slowly gained back what I had lost. (Probably because of a back injury so no exercise.) Anyway, I started again a few weeks ago and was not having the success I remembered. So I found this info on yeast, took the "test", and am on the cleanse now. What I'm wondering about is the bacon? I don't remember it being a no-no? Is it? I've been eating turkey bacon daily both on Atkins and on this cleanse. Is this hampering my success?

        Thanks!

Bacon isn't a no no for the Atkins WOE. It is processed so we(with yeast problem) can't eat it without promoting yeast overgrowth. To clean out the overgrowth of yeast in our system we eat unprocessed foods. Bacon is processed. We can have fresh side pork(which is unprocessed bacon) but it is hard to find. Ask your butcher to order it, if you wish to try it. But it doesn't taste like bacon, it is more like pork chop flavor. Kinda expensive, but I like it.
The main thing is read the label on your bacon. most bacon has sugar, and other chemicals that promote yeast growth.
I am not sure if your turkey bacon is causing your problem. You might consider not eating it for a few weeks and see if you lose some weight. You can add it back later and see if it stops your weightloss. We all have to do these little science projects to see what we can and can not eat, and successfully lose weight.

I only suggest cutting out processed foods if you have overgrowth of yeast and are stalled out on losing weight. Some of us can only lose weight by going to this extreme.
          I wish you the best.

            Thanks, Becky Sue!

You are right. I re-read the label and I now see the sugar listed. I can't believe I didn't see it before. I think since I was use to eating it a couple years ago on Atkins, I just went with it , thinking it was alright. Today is day 4 of my cleanse. I won't miss the bacon. I was just eating it to add a little something to the everyday eggs! I so hope this makes the difference. I am sooo tired and run down these days. At this point, my appetite isn't a concern. It's my energy level!

            Thanks again!
