  • Diflucan vs other treatments

I love the TMI warning everyone starts out with so I thought I should follow suit.

About 36 hours ago I realized the makings of a yeast infection (vaginal). Today I went to the doctor and got a 7 day cream to be used at night. I have taken my first dose and haven't noticed any major change. I was offered either the 7 day cream or Diflucan. I opted for the cream for fear Diflucan would ruin my great atkins run. Here are my questions ......

    1. Is Diflucan ok for extended induction?
    2. How could it be that I have a yeast infection (vaginal) while on extended induction?
    3. Are the over the counter yeast pills ok? I think AZO is a brand of one. But I was thinking of doubbling up with pills and cream but again the concern is that the pills will throw me off. Will they?

i personally prefer to take Diflucan. sometimes has side effects but it works well. the pill doesn't have any carbs so i don't see how it would throw you off.

Diflucan all the way, baby! Popping an effective pill versus all those treatments/mess. Yes, it's possible no matter what your status is on Atkins. I do feel for you though. Let us know!

Thanks for the intrest. Slow and steady. Yuck! I was caught off guard when the doctor offered me either the pill or ointment since I didn't have a chance to research the diflucan I opted for the ointment knowing that it wouldn't throw me off the diet. Now I come to find out I could have just poped a pill and it all would have gone away. Next time (hopefully not). At this point I have a few days of AZO yeast pills and ointment under my belt and am so sick of this I could scream. At least I'm not huge fat too! (lol) Tomorrow I may just ask the doctor if I can go ahead and take the diflucan and call it a day. I really appreciate all of the info.

I found taking Diflucan helped with wt loss. Having a yeast infection is what stalls you.

I had no clue that yeast would stall me! It's interesting because I didn't actually stall but the loss did slow for a short stretch. When I started taking the AZO tablets it picked up again.
