  • Am I good?

Ok, so I've been convinced that I have a candida overgrowth. Spit tests confirms it.

So I started a very strict anti-yeast diet a few days ago and want to do it for 14 days. This is what I plan on eating:

Eggs (omelet cooked with olive oil and some minced garlic thrown in)

Salads consisting of baby spinach, cucumbers, celery, flaxseed, olive oil, dash of lemon juice

grilled chicken, tuna (plain), steak, ground beef

    cauliflower, grilled eggplant
    hard boiled eggs

no beverages except water, no dried seasonings

Is that ok for anti-yeast eating?

Also, I need suggestions on how to add in some more protein/fat/calories as eating this way seems to make my caloric intake too low, which seems to slow my weight loss. Any suggestions? Also, is cream cheese a go or no? I'm reading different things.

    Thanks

Extra virgin olive oil is very good for you and will boost your calories considerably. You could toss your veggies in it (with previously sauteed garlic).

Your foods look good to me, but confess I'm no candida expert (in spite of modding this forum!!). Hopefully someone more expert than I will be along soon to give you a answer.

Your food sounds good to me. To get your fat up, just add an extra egg or two and add extra virgin olive oil and butter to your veggies. Add a little sesame oil to the other oils and lemon juice for a tasty salad dressing. It doesn't take a lot to add on to the fat and calories. Avocado would be good on that salad and it has really good fat.

        Cream cheese is a no.

If you can deal with coconut oil, it is a strong anti-fungal on it's own. It's good-for-you fat to boot. I like the taste so I just put a spoonful in my mouth and let it melt. It starts killing the yeast in your mouth and then goes all through the digestive system.

Brush your teeth three times a day with baking soda. Swish it around in your mouth. The yeast starts in your mouth and goes all the way through the digestive system.

You might feel bad the first few days from yeast die-off. It feels like a bad case of induction flu.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Okay I double checked on the cream cheese and several anti-candida sites list recipes using cream cheese. It isn't a fermented cheese, I am sure that is why it is okay.

The most important thing you are doing is getting all sugars out of your body. Starches/sugars are the food of life to yeasts. Stay strong and sugar free, keep the menu as simple and 'real' as possible, you will do fine. I am with Sunny on the avocados.. if you like them, they will do you much, much good. Use garlic, real garlic, as liberally as you can..the allicin in garlic is antifungal as well as cancerfighting!

            Thanks for the tips guys!

I am eating super-strict, adding garlic with every meal, also taking garlic supplements as well as oil of oregano. I also bought coconut oil yesterday and the baking soda toothpaste. It's so frustrating seeing positive results on the yeast test in the morning. But I guess I just have to give it more time, no? What's the usual timeline for seeing results?

Also, should I be taking probiotics at the same as the antifungals. I'm reading that the antifungals will also kill the good bacteria from the probiotics. But probiotics are needed to restore proper balance in the stomach. How do I do this? Suggestions?

I also heard you should cycle through different antifungals every week because the candida will adapt and become immune

You do have to give it time. It will be about a week before symptoms like bloating will start to go away. You will feel worse before you feel better.

I have never taken prescription anti-fungals, so I don't know what to tell you about probiotics. I took them in triple doses along with the strict diet. You have to do something to re-populate your system with good bacteria. You won't get as much nutrients from your food without good bacteria.

I don't think the baking soda toothpaste has enough baking soda in it to do the job. I just keep a box of baking powder in the bathroom and make a paste in my palm with a little water and rub my toothbrush in it.

In the Yeast Connection they talk about making a liquid out of the anti-fungal and swishing that inside your mouth and hold it for a couple minutes before swallowing.

You carry yeast on your skin, so you need to change your sheets more often until you are all clear.
