  • Die yeasties, Die! and a question...

Well, true to your word, ladies, after 5 days on the KISS diet, my yeastie beasties are starting to starve. The day before yesterday I got the most VIOLENT sugar cravings I have ever had. I was always told sugar cravings are a result of PCOS, so I was used to them. Now I think it was the yeast all along. This time was the worst though. Everytime I saw anything starchy, sugary, or illegal, my mouth just started to water! But, I am happy to say, I resisted and am still on my journey to yeastfreeness! Thank you for all your help, and I'll keep on posting. It is so helpful to read you're entries!

I was wondering. One of you told me that the symptoms would get worse instead of better. What are some of the things I can expect, just so I'm ready for them? Will the dying yeast be manifested some external way, like break outs, or illness? I've already been experiencing extreme exhaustion in the evenings, but more energy during the day. Thanks.

Everyone is different, so I can only speak from my own experience. When i got serious and started the KISS WOE, I did get really tired, no energy, yeast infections(vagina), I had more of the constipation symptoms, instead of the runs. There are days I WISH for diarreaha. LOL
I didn't have the external symptoms, like nail yeast infections or skin rashes, and not a coated tongue.

It did take a good month of eating CAD and taking suppliments before I started feeling better. I took acidophlisis pills, caprylic pills, oil of oregeno pills, and garlic pills and slowly I regained better health and my weight began to drop like you wouldn't believe it. I lost 15 pounds the first month and after 6 months I lost 45 pounds all together.
So having an overgrowth of yeast can stop you from losing , I am an example of it.

Thank you. Today turned out not so good. I got cramps and diahrea early on, and have had IBS everytime my stomach emptied. Its all because I had eggs and american cheese for breakfast. Kind of an experiment to see if I could handle them yet...NO WAY!!! SO I've eaten meat, for fear of putting anything else in my stomach, but thats making me sick too. I'm longing to just put some rice in to stop the pain. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Not all that much better today. I started out great until I put food in, and now am suffering. All I had was steak with a little fried onion. Again, its seems to be around the next meal time that I start feeling the yucks. For now, I'm going to attribute it to dying yeast, but if it gets worse, I'm going to get concerned, since I've had NO dairy today.

I think I have read that you were on KISS for just 5 days and then tried to test yourself to see if you could eat cheese yet. :yikes
IMHO , you shouldn't be adding back foods that are not on the KISS list for at least 2 - 4 weeks. Dairy is one of the foods that cause many of the problems we with yeast overgrowth face, like bloating, diarreah, stomach cramps.
I know it is hard to not eat the foods we really like, but sometimes we have to bypass them if we want to feel good again. Later on when you have the yeast undercontrol, then you can try cheese again. You may find that you can eat it occationally and you may find that you can't eat it without problems.
I hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Thank you, Becky. I lost the battle over last weekend, but I'm back to fighting this week, and am going to win this war. I've been doing a lot more research, and just can't believe what I found out about candida, and its far reaching symptoms. At our local Akins store, they have some products I want to try, called "CandiGONE", and a Probiotic from the same line called "FloraSMART". The also have a digestive enzyme blend called "CandiZYME" . I have to wait to build up the money, but hope to be able to buy them later this month. The other option I was thinking of is from Shaklee called "Optiflora" which is a two step system that is supposed to promote good intestine bacteria balance. I don't know...has anyone tried either of these lines with any success? There are SO many differant suppliments and stuff out there, each one claiming to have what the other's don't, it gets REALLY confusing. I would like some kind of a packaged deal that takes the thinking out of it for me. I'ld appreciate any suggestions. (Oh, and a little disclaimer, just for the records...I don't sell any of these products, nor any other. Just looking for answers.)

Oh, Becky...I just came from the link you have above for ConnieMS. I started to cry...HER STORY is SO like mine. I just hope I can achieve the same ending. I have one son, and we want another so much. I was diagnosed with PCOS and told I'll most likely never have another child. Thank you for posting that site. I'm going to try harder than ever now. I can't thank you enough for the work you are doing in this forum!

              Maribelle,

I am happy that you are finding some answers and working on your plan to rid your self of the overgrowth of yeast.

The products you mentioned, I am not familiar with. Like you said there are so many out there. Are you taking garlic pills and acidophlisis? I get these from Walmart and they aren't expensive. I also buy from an online store, www.swansonvitamins.com caprylic acid is less expensive on this site.
Like you said I don't own stock in this store either. :geek

It can be a tough fight, but so worth it. I want the best for you. :hug

I haven't started the acidophilis yet, but I am taking OoO. I just reduced the dosage, and although it does give me heartburn, its not as bad as when I was taking two with every meal. I retook the spit test this morning, and for the most part it stayed floating. There was only the tiniest bit at the bottom. I so hope this is a good sign. I'm tired all over this morning, my body is SO sore, and I literally feel drunk, even though I haven't touched alchohol. I drank the full 168 oz. of water yesterday, plus, so I think this is all a VERY good sign of yeast detox. The pamphlet I got from Akins the other day said,

" Among the mycotoxins produced by Candida is acetaldehyde, a poison that is trasformed into ethanol and converted by the liver into alcohol. As alcohol builds up in the system, symptoms associated with drunkenness develop. This is how Candida can produce "brain fog." "
                From RenewLife "Candida Overgrowth" Pamphlet.

Anyway I figure the reason I feel this way so strongly this morning, is because all the water is flushing out my liver...YEAH! Here's to another gallon and a half today!

Maribelle, you are on the road to recovery.
The research is so informative. Thanks for posting what you have found. Others that will come later looking for answers will read all of our posts and start their road to recovery from candida too.

Thanks for sharing! (Lifting my glass of water to toast you!!!) You are getting the job done. Yes! When the spit test floats you are winning the battle. Weigh to GO!!!

Just remember when you start adding back suspect foods take it slow and easy or you can get back in trouble with the yeast.

                        I have some ignorant questions:

                        1) What is KISS?

                        2) What is CAD?

I have just finished a clean induction, and only lost 2 pounds. I know lbs lost is not the only thing I get to look forward to, but I was disappointed, considering how much I have to go.

My doc tested my thyroid 3 times over 2 years and never found anything to lead her to think I'm thyroid-challenged. Now I've moved and don't have the insurance to request those candida tests. I don't get vaginal yeast infections at all. But I still wonder about systemic.

So --- sorry to hijack your thread, I don't mean to, but do you have any advice for me, or could point me to info on this forum or elsewhere that might help? I wonder if I'll just have to fork over the bucks to get the test done --- I think he mentions it by name in DANDR, I'll have to look back there.

Thanks! Sorry again to butt in with these questions!

Did you find all the answers? The spit test is really easy, and everything is pretty much up in the sticky threads at the top of this forum. If the spit test doesn't turn out positive for Candida, you might want to try reviewing your induction menu, and even posting it on the Review Menu forum, where the pros check out what you're eating and give suggestions. Do you have the other symptoms of a yeast overgrowth, such as chronic fatigue, sore joints, brain fog, dizziness, water retention, gas? Just from experience, I would rule other things out first. :nod
