  • Will it ever end?

I have been on a strict Candida diet for almost 7 weeks now (today is the last day of my 7th week), and just did the spit test for the first time to see if it'd be alright to bring in some fruit. Well, it's been about 15 minutes and there are little "legs" in it. Is this normal? Should I wait until I'm clear before bringing *any*thing back in? If I accidentally ate something wrong, would it give me results like that?

    *feeling hopeless*

With Candida, it's important to follow diet, take antifungals, and take probiotics. I have been researching xylitol, which is sold in health food stores as a sugar substitute, and it has antibacterial qualities. Xylo-Sweet brand has 0 carbs, and you can take up to 1/4 cup per day, but don't start out with that much, or you'll have serious tummy trouble. Start off with a teaspoon in some hot tea, or water. You could even make lemonade with it. Increase the doseage every few days, depending on how you feel. Go slow. It causes die-off reactions, sometimes severe in many people. That's because it kills the yeast. You need to supplement it with probiotics. Take xylitol in the morning, then Probitocs mid morning, then xylitol at lunch, probiotics between lunch and dinner, xylitol for dinner, you get the picture right? If you take the xylitol and the probiotics at the same time, the xylitol will kill the beneficial bacteria. Get yourself a decent probiotic too, from the health food store. I like the powder, because you get a little more bang for your buck that way. Once you feel like the yeast is under control, you can add back a questionable food, to see how you react to it. Dont overdo it, or you could end up right back where you started. Good luck.

If you are still seeing little legs in the spit test, I would suggest that you stay strict on the candida diet. The spit should float if you have a good control over it.

When you speak of fruit(berries), are you eating OWL? Because if you are still eating Induction, fruit isn't allowed in the phase. You must be in OWL.

I'm not doing this Atkins style, so I dunno what OWL is. I've been incredibly strict for 7 weeks now. I ate 1/2 a banana yesterday and was fine (the spit test came out clear). This morning I ate a whole one and it was too much. So I'm giving myself a couple days to clear out before I try more. Basically I'm going to spend the next 5 wks easing in fruit before I start easing in anything else. I want to be eating fruits comfortably and regularly before I bring anything else in.

Low carb eating other than Atkins

I think this is the forum that you will find the answers you are looking for.

You are welcome here, but what you are doing by eating fruit will not rid your system of yeast.

Fruit will just feed the yeast and you will never get it under control.

If you will read the sticky notes at the top of the candida forum they will explain our approach, and why we eat this way.

We eat pure, unprocessed foods, meats, veggies, olive oil, and drink water. Some of us suffer so much with the yeast overgrowth that we are willing to do this, really whatever it takes. We do this at least 4 to 6 weeks without adding back the problem foods. Sometimes we find that we can't eat certain foods without the candida coming back strong.

I hope you find your answers, but I know that the sugars from fruit will not help to rid the unwanted yeast.

I wish for you much success.

You must have misunderstood. I'm not doing low-carb eating other than atkins, I'm doing a candida kill other than Atkins. For the past 8 weeks now I've had only "pure, unprocessed foods, meats, veggies, olive oil, and water," and was ready to bring back in fruit (a problem food) before I bring back other problem foods after I've been on the diet for 12 weeks. I realize fruit has sugar, and that is why after I over-did it with one banana (1/2 was fine), I've been waiting to clear out that before trying anything else. I was simply asking about the reliability of the spit test. I am more than willing to do this diet, whatever it takes, I was only looking for advice about the reliability of the spit test.

Again, I'm sure you misunderstood what I said because I'm *not* "feeding the yeast" by eating fruit, and I'm incredibly committed to doing this right.

              Good luck to you!

Everyones system is different and what works for one will not work for another. We as individuals have to find our own path. I guess you could say we are our own science projects. Experiment, but do it slowly and make note of how your body reacts. If you add back problem food to soon, you could possibly reinfect.

I don't have the answer of how accurate the spit test. I just know that when I was having terrible symptoms of the overgrowth of candida, my spit test was terrible, verry leggy!!! Now that I am feeling great and no terrible symptoms(brainfog, horrible vaginal infections, bloating, constipation and most of all, my weight loss stopped for 8 months!!
You may find this hard to believe just ask a few like 2Big and dream0f145, they will gladly tell you all about my struggles.

I wish you much success and yes I misunderstood your question. If I offended you, please except my apology!
