  • I finally figured it all out...

Why I've only felt good on Atkins... I'm overwhelmed with yeast.

I took the 16 question online test and the spit test, and I'm swamped... long legs and 15 of 16 yes answers. argh.

Ok, so I went and checked out Candida books at the library and I'm ready to start this...

can someone help me and tell me if I should start the die off Gold Standard diet THEN start with the supplements? Should I start the supplements now?

What supplements should I take IYHO?

Thanks for any help you can do! I hope to take care of this now that I know what is wrong!!!! (its a great feeling to finally have hope) :yes

    Hi Izzy,
I know how you are feeling. You feel bad because of the yeast effects on your body, but You are happy to know you can rid yourself of this overgrowth.

Welcome to our candida forum. We are here to help you.

I would start out simple. I would eat the KISS WOE and see how you do.

    Atkins KISS Plan
    (Keep It Simple Sweetie)
Written by Kiersten from Atkins & Lowcarb Friends

The goal of KISS is to focus on real foods.

Those two foods are natural meats and veggies.

What is not allowed is processed meats (bacon, sausage, deli meat, etc.), dairy, nuts & artificial sweetener (AS).

If it has been processed or altered by humans, DON’T eat it. Though bacon is meat, it’s processed – full of chemicals – so you can’t eat that. Same with sausage, ham, hot dogs, deli meats, etc.

Eat low to medium carb veggies – tomatoes are okay, for instance. Eat until you are full. You will feel fantastic.

For some of my favorite meals -- meatloaf (no ketchup, but load it with chunks of tomatoes!!!), with a side of green beans; steak with sautéed mushrooms (olive oil); grilled chicken and homemade salsa (chunks of tomato, cilantro, onion, jalapeno peppers, bit of salt & lime juice); scrambled eggs (yes, they are a meat); cucumber for a snack; side salads with oil and a little vinegar for a dressing or you can make your own dressing with natural herbs (this sounds time-consuming but you can do it); the list goes on!!!

It does get old but you will feel amazing and you WILL lose weight – and that’s the point!

In case you have noticed a resemblance, this is a lot like Neanderthin. Though Neanderthin allows fruit which is too high in sugar and nuts which is an intolerance for many people. The concept is, again, natural foods eaten by the caveman, before agriculture and manufacturing. If it takes a machine to make it, then it isn’t allowed on this diet!!!

If you need to go stricter to Gold Standard you can always do that later.

I am not an expert in what suppliments to take. But I can tell you what I take.
I take acidophlisis, garlic pills, caprylic acid, oil of oregano pills. Maybe other members will post what they are taking too.

Drink all your water and get exercise too.

You are on the right track, do your research on candidas and apply what you learn. It just takes time to recover for the yeasties.

Have you read all the sticky posts on this forum? You might find some answers there.

Let us know how you are doing.

well I went out tonight and bought what the doctor said to get (he's great and doesn't want to put me on meds... he works with Candida patients a lot) -

he said to start out I should take Acidophilis 3 times a day, 1000 mgs of Vit C 3 times a day and Grapeseed Extract 35 mgs a day... and eat the KISS way. He even called it that! He said to check out online groups and see what works for others and try it out ... I told him about this forum!

What will the garlic and the capricilic acid do if I might ask? I have OofO at home, should I add that too?

:icondance I'm excited to have hope that I will lose weight and feel much better. I'm tired of the sinus trouble, the headaches, the slow weight loss, the apathy, the dizziness, it goes on and on... argh.

Thanks for the yummy food ideas(!) and any help along the way. I'm so happy to know that there is a way out and other people have found it!

I wish I had your doctor. Most of us have to find our path of battling the yeasties on our own.

Garlic, caprylic acid, and oil of oregano are all good yeast fighters. But you should check with your Doctor before you start using them. I found these suppliments to fight yeast in Dr. Atkins Book(Vitial-nutrient solutions). There was more on the list to help fight yeast, but I chose these three and I have found relief. In Dr. A's book he tells how much to take daily.

I am so happy you found our web site ha . It is the very best for support, motivation and everyone here really cares just how you are doing.

Let us know how you are doing.

        The best to you.

            hi all!

I was wondering, is vinegar allowed? I'm trying to find something to put on my salads. I've heard that Annie's Vinegar Free is good, but I'm worried about some of the other parts of the dressing...

any good dressing recipes? Any other ideas? Can I have lemon juice or vinegar?

and if its not too much trouble, can someone list a day in the KISS eating style. I'm worried that I won't get enough calories! :hug

Vinegar is not allowed. No ketchup or mayonaisse (only if you prepared it without sugars & vinegar) no BBQ sauce (has vinegar). I use olive & sunflower oil. I prepare my omelettes with that oils or coconut oil. I use to drink water & lemmon only.

              Breakfast

omelette 2 eggs with pepper, tomato, onion & chicken prepared with coconut oil or olive oil. Big glass of water with caprylic acid, garlic, multivitamin, magnesium, supplements

              lunch

meat or chicken with eggplant, spinach or lettuce, tomato, avocado, pickles. Olive oil & olive leaf extract (supplement) & garlic

              snack

              meat or chicken

              dinner

same like lunch . I try to eat variety of salads or vegetables (garlic)
