  • Confused about results of Spit Test

Becky Sue, I did the Spit Test as instructed in your sticky but I'm confused about the results

I took a glass of tap water - it was a wide glass.
I did one spit, nothing happened, and it slid off to the side. 15, 30 minutes later, nothing, it seemed to have all slid down the side.
Spit 2 (a few seconds after Spit 1) - that slid off to the side of the glass too, and it didn't go spidery. Instead it hung down a little, but goopy-hanging - not stringy - you know, more like water condensing off the ceiling, just drops starting to form but still hanging on and not falling down. 15min later, I couldn't see where it had gone, also it seemed to have all slid down the side.
Spit 3 (a few seconds after Spit 2) - that slid off again to the side of the glass, and this was spidery... and the spidery thingies pretty much went straight to the bottom as soon as I spit. Needless to say, nothing was left after 15min

I spat 3 times because it went off to the side of the glass - each spit seemed to have gone to 3 points of a "triangle". I just don't know what to make of it, because only the 3rd spit was stringy, and I couldn't work out why the 1st spit produced nothing. I did it first thing in the morning and hadn't even had anything to drink.

I feel so stupid describing what I just did... should I try again tomorrow and see what comes up again?

If it went to the bottom, and sat there a cloudy little mass at the bottom of the glass, that was mentioned as a positive result for yeast overgrowth. The first time I did mine, I had HUGE legs in five minutes. When I've done it since then, most of mine stayed at the top, with just a bit of cloudy yuck at the bottom. When I tested my son, who has major allergy problems, his just floated. Nothing at all sank....I think thats what you're looking to see for a negative. Hope this helps.

Thanks Becky Sue. That link did clarify things for me - I guess I show more positive than anything. I wonder if I gave myself the infectiong by choosing mushrooms as my new food...

Oh well, live and let learn
