circumstances have caused me to end my goal at 180, which I was thinking of stopping at anyway before my own personal typhoon hit.
I was only on the vegetable rung and having a tough time adding new vegetables. Not sure what the next step to take is in that im am having to take 2 meds now and possibly 3. Looks like I will have to experienment on what i can eat to maintain this goal.

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time Todd - meds can often cause you to stall, so you need a doctor who's understanding about Atkins to help you out

I'm on the veggie rung myself and I was practically dragged kicking and screaming into OWL. My first week there I tried mushrooms and I turned into one irritable b****, then I fell off the wagon. Since then I've taken a different approach to veggies but I'm more careful

May I ask what sort of problems you are having with the veg rung so far?

Looks like my appetite has picked back up but i havent necessarily been eating the right way, and still lost weight, but this is just starting on the medication I am taking. I was mainly on brocolli on the first rung. Didnt quite get to the point that I was adding more vegetables. The ones i really like to eat are on the several last rungs. Before, i was gradually adding more broccoli and salad, because I really dont like alot of vegetables and I could all cheese. I went past 180 to 177 in the last week or so. So guess I cant complain there. Im still doing atkins the best I can.

Can i ask what approach you are taking on the vegetables, if its not too much to ask.

          Hi Todd,

Well, considering it is only the first rung and most people have few problems with it ie intolerances, cravings etc, I thought to just rotate 3-4 veggies throughout that week. Ok, I know we're supposed to add a new food/veggie and eat it 3 times the first week and then everyday the following week. I tried that with mushrooms (which was a bad move) because mushrooms can also have the additional property of causing yeast infections and cause you to stall.

SO, I thought with each meal, I eat a little of 2 of the veggies I've bought eg last week I bought buk choy, red cabbage and fennel. I normally have brocooli & green beans in my fridge, but the red cabbage and fennel were new to me. So for one dinner, I had 1 cup buk choy & 1 cup red cabbage. 2nd dinner, I had 0.5 cup fennel & 1 cup buk choy. 3rd dinner I had 1 cup broccoli & 0.5 cup red cabbage. This way, I didn't eat too much of one vegetable - not enough to cause a stall or massive cravings, and I'd try a few veggies a week and not get bored with eating the same veg for those 2 weeks. The veggie rung would be the only rung i would take this approach and so far it's worked quite well for me.

Hey Todd, if you're not too keen on veggies, how about pureeing them into a sauce? Well, the other night I did this Italian dish with beef shanks crosscuts, called osso bucco. Normally it has a tomato base sauce, but as lots of tomatoes has lots of carbs, I took only a couple of tomatoes and lots of celery and slow-cooked them with the beef. Then towards the end i took a hand-blender and blended the sauce. It tasted fantastic and i can see it is one way to get through your veggie rung, you know?

          Cheers.
