I use to take it and I've seen several posts from people here who have taken it. I don't think that it has ever caused anyone to stall in their weight loss. I think quite the opposite.

:yes I got the same feedback too. I was wondering about it, and I was told that Zoloft also works as a natural appetite-suppressant and was actually quite "ideal" for Atkins

Yeah, I never had any problems with Zolft. I felt like I had been looking at things through a window with a dark, dirty film on it. I started taking the Zoloft and it was like the film had been removed. Everything was brighter! Weird, huh?

Anyway, Paxil is one of the ones you want to stay away from. I gained soooo much weight while on it and I didn't even "care". I didn't care about much of anything while taking Paxil. Blech!

how your liver works is the deciding factor in how well you will do on many meds and Zolof is processed in the liver. There are 6-10 genetic variances folk can have and if you are one of those folk that don't process some part of the reactions needed to activsate all the way to the deactivating reactions then you can have trouble with it. Some folk need a much lower dose because of this and other can't take it at all. Same witht he weight gain if you have any.

There is a genetic test that can be done and the Mayo clinic does this test on all its psych patients but many other places don't.

Just work with your prescribing doctor and take careful notes on how you are feeling and any side effects you notics. It takes several weeks for the meds to have a full effect.

Hope this helps explain why some folk think it is a great drug and others don't.

              Re: Zoloft anyone?

I am on zoloft right now and i don't find that it interfers with atkins in any way. I find that it doesn't supress my appetite either but it doesn't stall me either so i am pretty happy
